What a great property directly in front of the Christmas markets! Andres and the staff were super helpful and the breakfast is impeccable!! Would highly recommend to stay here. I would not recommend having a car as Oslo is a walkable city and not designed for cars. Train from the airport is the cheapest and most convenient recommendation. Only a 10-min walk to the hotel.

Karl Johan is a fantastic option for a stay in Oslo. The biggest pros: the central location, within walking distance to everything; the large, fresh breakfast selection; and the spacious rooms. We were surprised by the room size, especially compared to other European-style hotels—they’re quite large and overlook the street. I had read a few complaints about loud music, but we didn’t experience anything like that; it was generally quiet, even on the weekend. The building has a charming old-world style, and we really had no complaints. It felt like great value for the cost for our group, spread across three different rooms.

Great location for exploring all of Oslo, central to transport so easy to get to and from. Once there, rooms are quiet and well appointed - heated floors in the bathroom are amazing. Buffet breakfast is a life saver as nearby restaurants are very expensive. Staff were very friendly and helpful, helping me with reservations and local information. Will be staying here again on the next trip to Norway.

Great location - if you don’t have a car. Nearby parking is extremely $$. Staff is competent & professional but not very friendly. Do not go beyond basic service. Breakfast is excellent with many well presented prices. Very small bathroom & no robes or slippers.
