A really nice place to stay with very nice rooms and good food
Outstanding stay at this beautiful old pub/inn. The staff were incredibly gracious and welcoming. We were all just delighted to stay in this charming place. It was one of the highlights of our trip to the area.
The room was well above our expectations being roomy, well appointed all while having features of the 400 year old building. All the staff were very pleasant however the two duty managers, Rohan and Dayton went over and above. Hands down the best customer service experience we have ever had.
Thanks so much for a great stay! A beautiful grade two listed building, super friending and welcoming staff which was really appreciated, we'll be visiting again soon!
Superb service and attention to detail, from Giancarlo who greeted my wife and I , allowed us to check in early, through to the bar staff and restaurant team. Food great, could not have wished for better.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Excellent location and hospitality!
The staff were excellent: very friendly, responsive and efficient. The location was perfect with lovely local walks and there were excellent food choices available and different places to sit to eat. The room was big and had lots of character. Unfortunately room 7 was very hot in the warm weather which made it very difficult to sleep. The bathroom was tired, with some very poor workmanship around the bath and shower. These were the only negatives of an otherwise excellent stay!
A lovely location and beautiful looking building. Rooms are in keeping with the building and clean, tea, coffee etc all lovely, nice towels & bedding - the room itself just needed a bit of tlc - radiator not working (portable heater provided instead) shower extremely hard to regulate temperature and not able to single handedly hold the head and shower, bed support broken on one side..
Service was fantastic however and restaurant lovely and we all did get a good sleep.
Comfortable and relaxing although can be a bit noisy in the late evening with pub clientele chatting on the outside deck which is situated just below the rooms.
Dog charge of £15 per night.
I thoroughly enjoyed my three-night stay at The Bear and would highly recommend. The room was comfortable and perfectly appointed. The adjacent pub was convenient for meals, and everything was delicious. Ronan and every other staff member I came into contact with was top notch. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay outside the hustle of Oxford, do not hesitate to stay at The Bear. I will definitely stay here again.
Lovely Hotel. Room was spotless and very comfortable. Evening meal was delicious, especially the Parsnip soup it was the best I've ever tasted. Staff were lovely & welcoming. Look forward to staying again.
Fantastic place to stay, great room with an amazing shower. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was amazing. A great place all around.
