The building was beautiful and the food was amazing. What really let the entire experience down was the leak in our rooms ceiling. From around midnight till 4am there was a steady stream of water leaking from the beams and down the walls in our room. Sadly, the leak was directly above where our dogs bed was, and by the time we realised that the water we heard dripping was inside the room, his bed was sodden. Reported it to staff who didn’t really know how to respond, only saying that it’s happened before. For £100 a night, I wouldn’t expect water to be leaking into our room.
A lovely place in a beautiful area, ideally situated for a number of walks. The hotel is really nice and the room was large and well appointed. Steph and her team are second to none and she is super helpful and nothing ever seems too much trouble. I would highly recommend this pub to stay, we’re sad to leave.
Wonderful place to stop while hiking the coast to coast trail. Didn't realize you had to walk around the building to check in just off the parking lot, since we didn't arrive by car. Steph was so welcoming and did a load of wash for us for a small donation in their cup on the bar. A fire alarm went off at 450 am bolting us out of bed. Turned out to be nothing but I think I remember reading about this happening before in someone's write up. Dinner and breakfast was good!
Lovely hotel not too far away from the M6. Bed was really comfortable and bedding really nice. Food was nice and service good only problem was the numerous flies in the dining room. Breakfast was really nice and freshly cooked to order. Bacon was amazing! All the staff are really pleasant and helpful.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub is very clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable, ideal for a stopover on a long journey, ideal for walkers. The food was good pub fare. Ideal location, easy to get to the major routes north and south.
We booked this hotel at short notice (day before) since we were travelling north and needed a stop over where we could get something to eat. When we called we were told that the restaurant was closing between 8.30pm and 9pm though couldn’t confirm when. When we asked if we could come in at 8.30pm (still travelling at this point) they then said that it would close at 8pm! We had to stop at a KFC services to eat before arriving. When we arrived we went to the bar but left earlier than we intended because there were three very drunk men swearing very loudly and continuously. Staff did nothing but serve them and allow them to continue. One of them men even went around the bar area asking other residents if they were catholics or Protestants! All very uncomfortable. After retreating to our room and asleep we heard a commotion downstairs for some time. All in all an unpleasant stay.
Only one used toilet roll in room on arrival, looked as if housekeeping had only made up the bed , room didn't look as if it ha been cleaned after last guests, no hairdryer in room, bare magnolia walls, couldn't get TV to work management were not very helpful to ty and fix problem.
Very disappointed as we could have used hotel as a stopover on our journeys home from Wales.
