The resort feels outdated and quite small. Many rooms seem to have maintenance issues, such as malfunctioning A/C units or problems with sinks. Housekeeping is minimal; they only replace towels and tidy up some items in the room. Bedsheets are not changed unless you specifically request it. The food is decent but offers very limited dining options, which can get repetitive over the course of a week. The beach area is in poor condition and appears to be neglected. It’s dirty, covered with algae and trash, and has a rocky shoreline, making it uncomfortable and even hazardous. My brother actually cut his toe on the rocks on the first day. It’s clear why there are no neighboring resorts nearby—the rocky beachfront is a major drawback. When I arrived, I was informed that the resort is divided into family, privilege, and adult sections, but the property is so small that this division seems unnecessary and poorly executed. Overall, I would not recommend this resort, especially for those looking for a relaxing beach experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Ocean El Faro and stayed there twice. The hotel is very clean and aesthetically beautiful. There is a gorgeous lagoon not far from the hotel beach (couple of mins walking distance). Highly recommend this hotel!

Our room was dirty to the point that I question whether it was even cleaned before being assigned to us. Daily bar stocking and room cleaning was also hit/miss, as we didn't get it on 1 day despite making multiple requests for it. Staff friendliness was variable. The ones who were friendly were great, but I would say the ones who weren't outweigh the good ones. We got in to the resort late on our first night, with the buffet only open for about 30 mins by the time we got there. Staff hovered over us as we were trying to eat and feed 2 tired, young children and more than once reminded us about the closing time. It would have been obvious that we just arrived given we had some of our luggage with us. The whatsapp concierge experience was also hit/miss. He was able to get us bookings at our choice of time/date to all the a la carte restaurants we wanted, which was great. But, he would also at times be tardy with responses, and didn't get back to us at all when we asked about potentially changing rooms or upgrading. I would be hard pressed to return.

The stay felt very subpar. The food was mediocre at best. The room was OK but had a lot of moisture and smelled musty. The cleaning seemed to be done with heavy bleach concentration and caused all of our clothes to have an awful smell. A second room we used had bed bugs and our daughters sustained multiple bites. The beach was very dirty. The drinks seemed like very low level alcohol and tasted watered down. The staff seemed mostly miserable. The buffet was really the best eating option outside of the Teppanyaki restaurant. Avoid Italian restaurant at all costs. Terrible. The pool was nice and we spent all days there. However be prepared as it is very cold. Also seemed loke most areas were understaffed and had long wait times for drinks and food. I would rate as a 5/10 and not recommend.

The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the food in the buffet.. as our E concierge was Carlos was very helpful getting us dining reservations. I would’ve liked a paper copy of what was going on for New Years and more of an explanation. I also would like to have hand soap in my room and did not want a sales pitch on my vacation to buy in to the properties .. We just wanted to relax. Other than that it was a beautiful property.

Some hits, mostly misses. Hotel staff give the impression they are available but they are not. Whatsapp messaging is useless as no one responds for hours. They call this a family resort however there is not one child's size urinal in any bathroom. My children couldn't reach the bolted on soap dispenser or faucet in our room. Most restaurants don't offer a kids menu. All in all we were disappointed with the service. Fortunately for us we were 'privilege' guests so I occasionally received a response. My parents however were not and could only get something done by wasting their time at main check in until an issue was resolved. Also - they advertise they you could get a room with two queen beds and a pull out sofa bed but in fact they do not have it. I was told I would be responded to and never was etc. Special privilege check in? It's one person working in the far corner. Not only did I have to wait but the person checking me in was constantly answering the phone while checking me in. It took almost an hour for us to receive our baggage once checked in and were waiting in our room in our plane clothes. Did I try to call front desk? Of course. Everyone talks nice on the phone but no one does anything. I could keep going...I came with a pocket full of cash to tip and honestly almost no staff put in even the basic effort. I had to set my own tables in the restaurants and walk over to the service station to pour my own water. My kids were happy as all they need is a beach.

I just wish they had more staff in the restaurants and at the coffee shop, they are definitely short staffed. Very stingy with the towels in the room, it would help to have the same staff so they get to know your needs. I had to ask for towels every day. The food was just good, I had one delicious steak and it was not from the steakhouse. Burgers by the pool was good. The property is beatiful, well kept greenary. Pools are always getting cleaned, pool towels were easy to get, fresh and clean. The customer service from the ladies was rude while the gentlemen were nice.

It was our first Holiday vacation with the kids. Staff are all really nice and attentive. The Buffet is much better that the restaurant food in my honest opinion. They just made it sound exclusive. Though most of the time, the table turnover at the buffet is a little slower specially in the morning. The pool activities (volleyball) specifically was fun! But too short of a time for everyone to enjoy. Every person that didn’t know each other were playing together and it’s nice to see it. But then, the staff will take down the net and get the ball and all the players were all disappointed because the fun was just getting started. Overall, it was a nice experience.

The online WhatsApp Concierge’s assistance were useless. They did not respond to messages at times even longer than 24 hours. They were unable to make reservations in the restaurants. The reception area was not helpful at all. They would direct you to a restaurant that never picked up the phone. This happened several times at the beginning of the trip. The on site were very helpful, however, and try to make up for deficiencies of the online Concierges. However, this took a couple of hours to sort out.There was no hot water for the hot tub attached to the room. There was insufficient water pressure to fill it, and therefore could not be used at all.Areas in the deck were ill maintained. For example, the sunroof was broken. Supplies were not replenished in the room. Food overall was mediocre at best. Loud music is blasted all day. There was no hot water or very lukewarm water in the room in the late afternoon. Water pressure was often poor. There was no running water in some of the publicbathrooms.The beach was dirty with garbage interspersed with the lounge chairs. The beach was nice but rocky. The pool areas were very clean as were the swimming pools.The staff overall were courteous and tried to be helpful. The buildings and the architecture as well as the landscaping was beautiful. Unfortunately, I would not go back to this resort.

Stayed at Ocean El Faro for 8 days. Would recommend and would stay again. Noteworthy service from: -Victor who checked us in when we arrived. He assisted us in upgrading to a swim up room and overall his service was impeccable. -Alex who helped us check out on our last day, also extremely personable and helpful. -Rene our server at the Premium dinner. Outstanding service, and one of the best meals we had on property. -Antonio our chef at Sakura, as well as our server Miguel, and some of the other staff at Sakura. Fantastic service and exceptional meal. -Wilbur from Beso and Oliver the bartender at Beso. Amazing people. -Alfery our house keeper did a great job. Room was always perfectly clean and she was so pleasant. -The entertainment team is phenomenal. All of them. From poolside entertainment, to beach party entertainment, and nightly shows. Star night was incredible. The choreographer did an amazing job with the entire show. -servers and chefs at ocean burger and the snack spots at Beso all were lovely I wish I could remember specific names. There were more but those were some of the top. Thanks for a memorable, relaxing, fun and safe vacation!

Extreme Long check in /out time. Terrible cleanness, hairs on the bathroom vanity, mold and stains on the sofa bed, not even changed the bed sheets which had sands and hair. Tried 100 time to reserve the restaurants with their system, but never succeeded. Every one has to wake up early and lined up to reserve it in person before 7:45am. Bad food quality that made my husband sick for days. Save your money and life and don’t go.
