The hotel is two buildings. We were situated in the second building, the pool and hot tub in our building was shut down and that was kind of a bummer, (mostly because we were too lazy to walk to the first building… it’s really close). The hotel was clean, the front desk staff were super friendly and it was quiet! The only thing I found weird was the shower being in the center of the tub… hard to clean your body off when there’s not a ton of pressure… but all in all this is a great hotel!

We arrived around 3 and were told that our room wasn’t ready till 4 which is checkin time so fair enough. Came back at 4 to be told it still wasn’t ready and to come back in 15 minutes. Came back in and it still wasn’t ready, then just waited in the lobby as it was hot outside. Then at 4:30 went back up to the desk and said it was ready. We were standing there waiting maybe they should have said something when it was actually ready. So poor customer service at checkin offered nothing for our room not being ready on time. We were all tired from driving and it was hot so just wanted to get into the room. Bathroom door didn’t even close and will just swing open so have to use a towel to keep it closed for ‘some’ privacy as it was still slightly open since the door just hit the frame. The hallway was so dirty and we were right next to the cleaning room so full of garbage and the door is constantly opening and closing. The only window out was into a hall so very dark and dreary. The pool looked very murky so decided not to use it. I’ve stayed in many more budget friendly hotels and this was the second worst one in all my years of travelling.

The towel hook was hanging off the door, the back doors to the hotel didn't lock and there were some sketchy characters hanging out behind the hotel. The pool was under construction and there was a smell emanating from the area. And to top it off as we were packing the next morning a huge beatle ran across the bed, so god knows what else was there. Def not staying here again.

This is not a hotel... As per advertisement on Hotels.com. and definitely feel Catfished by the pictures. Also wasn't very clean and my pillow case had multiple stains on it.

Sandman is an older property that is showing its age. It is more of a motel style than a hotel style. Was decent for a one night stay before heading off to the Lower Mainland.

Other than a good location off the highway, would not recommend. Room was dirty and lights were burnt out. The AC was so loud we had to sleep without it on. Walls are paper thin and was woken up in the middle the night by talking next door.

We had to change rooms as it was dirty and the second room wasn’t any better. Staff was not friendly. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for the price in summer. Pay more for a better room

Staff friendly. Room was not very clean, in particular the kitchen area. Food bits still on stove burner trays, utensils not clean in drawer and even the glasses set up as clean, one had a tea or coffee remains dried in bottom of it. Bed was fine. Also it would be helpful on the web to very clearly be notified when there is no elevator.

Was originally booked here as the website where the site was booked advertised a water slide. Checked into the hotel, desk worker was somewhat friendly but working with some difficult to navigate administrative tools I guess… was super slow, missed a few steps that needed to be recovered upon check out. There was no water slide. Pool didn’t open until 1000am next day, so we couldn’t enjoy another swim the next morning. Seating was mostly cushions around the pool, so lots of wet seats that wouldn’t be dry for a long period. Hotel room was poorly maintained, wallpaper/paint peeled annd bubbling everywhere (room 206). No elevator to reach second floor room. Room entry door was a battle to open and you have to force it closed to ensure it secured. Won’t close by itself upon exit. Towels that were “clean” in the bathroom had make-up stains… the towels at the pool were cleaner than the ones in our room. The employees were doing the best they could with what they had, but this hotel charges way too much for what you get, I wasn’t expecting 5 star, but at $170 $40 in taxes per night, I expected more, Sandman, you need a refresh here.

I would like to say the coffee in the morning at the reception was excellent and the pool and hot tub was great. However the bed and pillows were not great - very soft and definitely feels like they need an upgrade.

Booked this hotel for a night on our road trip back from Lake Louise. Older gentleman at check in was very nice and sweet (all the staff were great). Get to our room that was assigned to us (in older building) and it reeked of cigarette smoke and staleness (we call the front desk and they claim it is a non smoking room….hmmmm so weird) Instantly we both feel gross and the view out the window to the old empty pool was creepy as hell. We get a new room with no hesitation, that was much better (minus the strong smell of the air freshener that was in the room). Why do they rent these nasty rooms to ppl when there are constant complaints on their reviews. Who do you think would accept this as a room to sleep in? I really don’t understand. The first room we were given was absolutely disgusting. We would have driven home rather than have to have slept in that room. In the new room we were given we felt a bit better about staying and not just leaving. We couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and leave. I feel bad leaving a negative review, that’s not usually my style. We were just so shocked at what we were given especially for $200 a night. Sandman have some pride this is your name you have on this!!

Our family just stayed one night and arrived late at 8:30pm due to traffic jammed. Surprisingly a Dennys restaurant is right there with the hotel that we didn't have to take fast food elsewhere.
