The cabins are modern, clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed to blend sympathetically into the landscape. The location is tranquil and free of distractions, a great place to connect with the environment. Upon arrival, you will find information on bushwalks of varying duration in your cabin. We will certainly visit again, hopefully for a longer stay. Highly recommended.
Communication from the team was friendly and helpful
This is a great spot for a back to nature relax. Great cooking facilities in the accommodation kitchen and a communal outdoor bbq and fire pit.
Possums and quolls on the deck at night. Lots of wallabies and evidence of wombats.
Dog friendly, keep on a lead.
A huge surrounding property to explore and play in nature.
Pack all your food needed as the shops are a bit of a drive away.
Pack waterproof shoes as there are limited formed pathways.
This is a lovely property - blends in beautifully with the surroundings. You feel you are part of nature and can enjoy close up encounters with local wildlife. We were fortunate to meet the caretakers who took time to introduce us to the area and how to get the best out of the stay. The cabin has everything you need for a great stay. The view and surrounding are magical.
Wanted somewhere quiet and comfortable for a few nights. Idyllic surroundngs, could not be more peaceful. Cabins are modern and well equipped, surrounding countryside is spectacular. I just wish I could have stayed longer.
Unexpectedly great accommodation, almost luxurious cabins with a light, open design. One of the quietest nights I've ever had. Area is super peaceful and true to nature. Hosts are personal and friendly. We could not have wished for anything more!
Unreal location, perfect for a relaxing time out. Would highly recommend it to everyone.
Should be opaque glass in bathroom and a block out blind in long narrow window in living area,a little too bright at night due to outside lighting!
We were fortunate to stay a week at Craggy Peaks and each day was a delight. The location is peaceful and secluded but you can also be as active as you wish with lots of exploring to do in the old mining towns , more strenuous walks up the many bluffs which surround the Retreat, taking a stroll on the soft natural grasslands of the old golf course or simply sitting on the balcony and getting to know the friendly local native animals. The cabins were thoughtfully and tastefully fitted out, recognising the isolation with a full kitchen, a shared laundry and helpful extras available at reception where you find friendly staff who are always to assist with information about the area.
A visit to the Mathinna Country Club is a must if you take the time to travel to Ben Lomond!
There are also three lovely camping spots by the creek and a couple of powered smaller van sights near the spotless BBQ and firepit area.
Within easy reach of the East coast , the Midland ( Heritage) Highway and Launceston, this oasis is a perfect layover.
We certainly hope to return.

Peaks to enjoy!
A lovely place to spend a few days, very well-equipped cabins with all amenities needed for comfort and enjoyment. Beautiful surroundings with space for walks, mountain views or just relaxing.
This is a great place for a quiet getaway. The grounds are great to walk around, especially the old golf course and the creek area. Looking forward to the bridges being repaired after the floods so we can explore further next time.
This was my absolute favourite place to stay while we toured Tassie. It was quiet, there were hiking trails close by, the staff were so friendly!
We will gladly visit again next time we are down.
Two words: Highly Recommended!
If you are looking for a place to be in touch with nature, stay grounded and "completely switch off" from a busy lifestyle/work schedule, this is the place for you. The site managers are amicable, knowledgable, and can recommend places to explore (within walking or driving distances). Lovely little walks surround the property; the cabin is clean and provides enough amenities to self-sustain you and your family.

We loved our stay at craggy peaks. Beautiful bush setting. The 2 bedroom cabin was really comfortable. We found the kitchen good to cook in. We loved looking for the wildlife at dusk and we’re lucky to see a spotted quoll and wombats. Would go back for another bush retreat.
Craggy Peaks is a real gem. Hidden away in the bush, the units are clean, comfortable and private. The staff provide a bush walk map and it is well worth doing. Remember to take a hat and also water.
The walk, which is well marked, takes you through rain forest, across streams and along an old convict built road. Well worth doing. On my walk I saw numerous birds, wallabies and a wombat. On my drive out, I saw a Tassie Devil.
Well worth a stay.
