Location is quiet. Plenty to do in the region.
Boardwalk provides a short walk to exposed unpatrolled beach. It was a very messy surf when we were there. Would be better if you swim elsewhere if you are not a good swimmer or can't read a beach. Definitely too dangerous for my kids on the days I was there. The beach is really long and wide so great for walks etc.
The resort provided a pool (bit small for older kids/adults); good 18 hole putt-putt golf course; jumping pillow/tennis/basketball area (note this has no shade, kids avoid until the sun goes behind the trees).
Stayed in the 2BR Wairo Cottage. It is clean and neat. Kitchen is well equipped and has utensils, pots/pans, plates, cups, glasses etc. There is a small gas BBQ on the verandah that works well. The main bedroom is very small (the bed is squeezed in between the walls). There is a wardrobe but no other furniture. The 2nd bedroom has bunk beds. There's 2x3 of them, making them quite cramped and difficult to get in - tell the kids to watch their head and back. The living room is very sparsely furnished - only one small lounge (2.5 seater max) so mostly we sat on the floor. There is a dining table for dinner.
One annoyance was that the aircon is only in the main living area. Like all airconditioners, it struggles to cool any other part of the cottage. We actually bought a fan for the bedroom to cope with the heat we had. Would be fine when not so hot.
Not the best place I've stayed but enjoyed it & would stay again.
