Hotel room had cobwebs and a lot of dust. Downstairs room was over crammed. and no net curtains, meaning we had to keep curtains shut. TV was not working.
Food - The food at the restaurant always arrived cold and one dish had a hair on it. Attitude by staff was unwelcoming and it was like we were putting them out.
Overall, a disappointment for our Anniversary and Birthday celebrations!
Stayed at this hotel in the past and always had a decent experience. Brilliant for dog as plenty of space outside for walks. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Very unimpressed with the check in service. I was a late arrival. Exterior signage needs to be easier to read at night. I called to find out where to go and was met and walked to reception. I checked in and walked a long way to the room to find it was a double, not the twin I booked. The brief version is after over an hour, walking from room to room, getting wet in the rain moving rooms we finally got a twin room. The man on the desk was very morose, didn't make eye contact, smile or be in any way pleasant. I was told 24-hour reception but the phone when I called for a fan said the mailbox was full!! Had to use my mobile to call reception. Checkout time is 11 am, I hung the do not disturb sign on the door and still the cleaners came into the room at 8.30 and switched the light on. The final straw was a sliver of glass on the floor embedding in my foot. I expect better from a Mercure!!
Lovely situation in countryside with magnificent old Hall.
Room fine. Exterior paint work on building gave bad impression.
Restaurant ok- but No fresh fruit on menu.

Love this hotel’s location. Such beautiful surroundings. The rooms could do with a bit of a spruce up, but they are perfectly okay as they are. We brought our dog to stay with us and he was made very welcome and enjoyed having the run of the grounds immensely.

Mecure Warwickshire Walton Hall
No.28 superior room Waldon hall,Stains on bed cushion
Key lock not working and was given extra that did not work (moved to a smaller room but was no match) went back to original room and lock battery changed
Shower door broken and signs of rust
Evening dinner
Cod overcooked
2 x Caesar salad salty and replacement also too salty also asked for cod menu instead
Food not value for money
Swimming pool and spa.
Although we was given complimentary passes to the pool and spa, the attendant lied to us saying the mens changing room were out of order when infact it was the womens changing rooms as my wife noticed the urinals in the toilet area,Locker key didn't match number on lock as I result I had to use disabled toilets to change which caused an inconvenience to people who really needed it.
Pool side was constantly flooded as drains not adequate
Breakfast
Very poor variation of breakfast meals, food in buffet section was not replenished as bakebeans had run out at 10am, hashbrowns not cooked properly, felt more hungry after leaving.
Summary
My wife and I was very disappointed with the stay at this hotel as it suppose to be a special occasion marking our anniversery we booked a superior room and over all it wasn't the most pleasent experience although I have to say we slept quite well, some members of staff were unapologetic in there actions and no acknowledgement that they were in the wrong in regards to the faulty card reader to open the door, would not recommend staying
here
The staff on checkin were not the most helpful. We were instructed to go a very long way round to our room, and when we advised we only had one coffee cup in our room we were told to go to the restaurant ourselves to get one! The breakfast area wasn’t well stocked - no plates. We, and other guests, had to keep asking for items to be replenished. This was half way through service, not even towards the end.
The room was clean and comfortable, however toiletries were empty. Both the body wash and shampoo bottles on the side of the bath were empty. No USB points to charge phones, for a fairly new building/renovation this was surprising.
Overall not a great experience.
The property is beautiful and the staff can’t do enough to help you. The day we were checking in I had a horrendous migraine attack and called and asked if we could check in early as I needed to lie in a dark room. The staff not only checked us in early but upgraded us into a room that they thought would be more comfortable given my migraine. So thoughtful and kind. Thank you Walton Hall!
Much better than some reviews have suggested. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was large, comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was excellent, dinner was fine but menu was not extensive. Restaurant service was good. Located in beautiful countryside.
Did not use the additional cost spa and pool. Only gripe was that the sign on the main road is faded and inconspicuous. I drove past it the first time. The hotel mst be missing out on any passing trade.
Staff were very helpful, though unfortunately very obviously understaffed. Dinner service was exceptionally disappointing, may people simple left their tables, as no service was offered. It’s a shame things were let down by understaffing. Pool was also closed for repairs too, the pool was one of the reasons for our short visit.

Overall experience ruined by not being able to sleep because of a
Nice large room with all the usual facilities of a hotel. However, it is tired and dated. Beautiful setting and grounds which have been kept to an exceptional standard. Room was dated but clean and house-keeping attended daily. It was stifling hot in the room even though I had the window open for the whole weekend. The shower was constantly leaking water at the wall fitting and the plug was broken and couldn't be pulled out the bath after my soak.
Breakfast food was very good.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Such a shame as location is beautiful
Hi beautiful setting fabulous hotel need more efficient bar staff and had an issue with towels for room did ask them to be changed but it didn’t happen
Really disappointed, this is supposed to be a four star hotel, with the check in they couldn’t explain where our room was and her colleague was doing some sort of fiddle getting staff rates on a room saying what are they going to do SACK ME ?? We got to the room and the door was actually open, not great to look out of your window to see a mountain of weeds outside. In every four star hotel I have been in there is always a fridge to put water and medicines and there was only one sachet of coffee and no complimentary water.
I rung up earlier in the day and asked about food and was told there was no need to book for a table, come 7.45pm and there was no tables available for the rest of the night. The menu selection the only words that I could use was pub grub, really not inspiring. Also we asked for mayonnaise and salad cream and was told that they didn’t have any. Also in the rooms there is a total lack of plug sockets, how are you supposed to charge phones, use laptops without said sockets
Unfortunately the stay was awful. On arrival we found out you have to pay £10 per person to use the pool(not included in the price of the room) plus extra to “hire a robe”. The restaurant only had a bar style menu at extortionate prices (£19.50 a burger), my wife’s burger was overcooked and mine was literally raw! Obviously I sent it back and refused to pay for it, also no room service. The following night we ate else where. In the room the cups had not been washed with a soggy teabag next to them, reception did resolve this but shouldn’t have been like that in the first place. The light fittings were hanging off the wall, broken plug in the bath and the room boiling hot making it hard to sleep. Looking at other rooms the window frames were rotting although ours were ok. Breakfast is a buffet style which was ok but only grey tasteless scrambled egg available and the pastries were stale. Have emailed them(never felt the need to do this before) but not had a reply not even after confirming they received the email after calling them. We should have looked at the reviews before booking! It’s a shame as the hotel is located in beautiful grounds and the front of house staff lovely, shame about the management.
