It smelled bad in the hallway areas, and the bed linen smelled like it hadn’t been washed properly. The accommodation area was quite depressing, and I wish I had stayed elsewhere.
Excellent location for our day at Hatfield House.
Only one drawback was that we had to enter our rooms via the fire escape which had 2 flights of metal stairs which was quite difficult in the rain carrying suitcases. Otherwise everything else was good. The staff were lovely and very professional.
Highly recommend the Pear Tree Inn. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have combined a traditional British pub with an excellent Indian restaurant. The food is lovely. The rooms are clean and comfortable
I spent a night here in December, a bit before Christmas time, during a business trip.
The Inn is on top of a pub but, to my surprise, it is amazingly quiet.
Amazing staff, very friendly and helpful.
The room was clean and well equipped, and it included standard hotel amenities.
The bed was comfortable and the temperature was perfect: I slept better than I have in other more famous hotels.
I also discovered that the Pear Tree Inn has appeared in 2013 movie The World's end.
Overall I had a great stay and I can only recommend the Pear Tree Inn.
Very basic room. Shower drain dirty and would not drain. But staff went above and beyond to help out when a member of the family died at nearby hospice.
Perfectly comfortable. Recently decorated with new furniture and furnishings. Felt a bit sorry for them that someone had clearly spilt tea/coffee over the new carpet. A bit disconcerting being taken to my room via the fire escape around the back and no reception as such so the check out process was a little odd. Overall it was fine and I’d stay again.
When we arrived there was someone sitting in the doorway having a cigarette that we had to squeeze past which wasn't great. The room itself and the bathroom were very clean and well presented. The bed was absolutely awful though - the most uncomfortable thing ive slept on. Also think its a small double as opposed to a double. Budget hotel chains have better beds. If we had paid a budget price then I wouldnt be complaining, but at £130 for the night this was double what we felt it was worth.
