Holidays in ‘Ayn ad Darāhim

Your last proper vacay feel like it was an eternity ago? No dramas — book a ticket to ‘Ayn ad Darāhim and you'll be heading off in no time!

It lies 130 kilometres to the west of Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia.

Put aside some time to witness a sensational sunset at Tabarka Beach, 20 kilometres to the north.

Spend a laid-back afternoon at El Kala National Park. It lies just 25 kilometres out of ‘Ayn ad Darāhim. Fill your lungs with the fresh, clean air and take a few moments to clear your mind.

Seeking some other nearby localities? Ain Draham is only 4 kilometres to the southwest, so hop in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, El Kala, 25 kilometres west of ‘Ayn ad Darāhim, is also worth the time.

Turn your time in this part of the world into a memorable experience with a bit of horse riding or four-wheel driving. They're both well-liked outdoor pastimes here.

Even the most intrepid travellers might tremble at the prospect of parasailing. Why not catch your breath and give it a shot?

From scuba diving to swimming, there's a range of ways to get your hair wet in Tunisia. Just don't forget your sunscreen!

Wander through the region's history museums. They are especially good places to shelter in when the rain starts pelting down.

If the weather looks good, make your way out to explore the surrounding area's open-air markets.

Find out about the area's history by making your way to the surrounding ruins, old towns and archeological sites. If a tour guide isn't available, do a little of your own research.

Familiarise yourself with the area in a more spiritual way by organising an outing to its mosques. Take a moment for your own quiet reflection or simply observe the locals in prayer.

There is no better way to experience a place than to literally take a bite out of it! You're invited to discover the culture, history and personality of Tunisia by indulging in some of its most fabulous food and drink.

Do you want to know some of the popular ingredients used in the local kitchens? You're likely to be served tomatoes and seafood in a few of your meals.

Looking for an iconic ‘Ayn ad Darāhim dining experience? There are some specialties you shouldn't miss, such as mesfouf (couscous) and tabil (spice mixture).

A meal is never truly complete without dessert, so quit calorie counting for a while and indulge in one of the most well-known after-dinner treats, asida (sweet gruel pudding).

Want to add some fire to your evening? A couple of shots of cedratine (lemon liqueur) will do the trick! Straight up or in a fancy cocktail — doesn't matter!

You don't have to be an authority on wine to appreciate a tasty glass! Here, Coteaux d’Utique and Coteaux de Carthage shouldn't be missed.

Ready to hit the tarmac? Pack your bag, set an alarm clock and make a plan to get to Tunis - Carthage International Airport (TUN). It's about 140 kilometres to the east.
