Pet Policies

This home only allows 2 dogs. There are nightly pet fees and a pet deposit required. When booking with a pet on VRBO, VRBO defaults the number of pets to 1 dog. Our pet fee is $50 per pet per night with a $75 pet cleaning fee per pet.

In order to protect our homeowners' second homes, we do require that pets must be under 35 lbs., non-shedding, and crate trained. The pet(s) must either be crated when unattended and not left alone in the cabin when you leave. As pet owners ourselves, we know that some pets have separation anxiety which will cause damage to the wood floors, walls, door frames, or furniture when left alone, even if shut in a bedroom or bathroom. Blue Ridge is an extremely pet friendly town and you can take your dog with you to most restaurants where there is outdoor seating, and walking along Main Street, shop owners keep bowls of water outside for thirsty pets.

There is a $250 refundable pet deposit for all reservations. It is refunded upon the departure of the stay unless there are pet damages, excessive pet hair, or if the pet has been found unattended in the cabin.

Please note that there is a 3% cancellation fee in the event of a cancellation.

BAD experience!!
This cabin has not been maintained at all. The dishwasher was broken, bathrooms were dirty, there were broken plates and glasses in the kitchen, roaches, dirty cabinets. We found dirty clothes in the drawers .. dirty underwear!!! W Meade coffee and everybody got sick because of the poor quality of the water. The pictures are misleading too. We ended up coming back home earlier. I want my money back!! And I have pictures to prove that I am telling the truth. This place is way overpriced.

Don't go to this location if you are herev with family including children or need to work
The stove top gas grill only one burner worked properly. The other three burners a soup pot would take an hour and half to warm up. We had roaches. They came in the next day and they were gone for a day then everytime we opened a drawer or a cabinet there they were. The internet or the Cable TV didn't work for more than 3-5 minutes a day. My son needed to work a few days and had to go to starbucks in order to complete his work. The downstairs bathroom had mold in it that was a bit smelly. We saw a hand blender so we ,made a large pot of potatos and went to mash and the blender was caked with something brown we cleaned it off and well it didn't work at all. So we had to section off our potatos and hand mash rather a bother with 4 hungry kids. The worst thing in the kitches was the dishwasher. The door would not stay closed and it hit our little ones in the head and bruised up me and my mother's shins everytime we didn't quite get it to close so it slammed down on us. Mom is a bleeder so this was troublesome. The silverware tray the bottom of all sections except 2 were gone totally gone! The drive was easy even when we had a big frost the last day and had to leave early. We saw lots of deer that was great. The view of the creek was lovely the view itself was lovely. We couldn't get wood down to the firepit so no fires or somemores. Kids were really looking forward to this. Anyway, I have stayed in cabins from Jasper to Murphy without one bit of trouble none at all. This cabin was the worst and we didn't read the fine print. When we saw total allowed folks 12 we booked then the bill came and you were charged for every person of 4 people I believe per day very very expensive. Wish we would have seen this and we would have passed immediately. I also have never ever had internet or cable issues Phone issues a few times but never internet/cable. It wouldn't have mattered on the cable if we didn't have 4 children under 6! When you don't really have a yard and hard to get down to the creek rain etc. TV is a help for these little ones to enjoy for a bit after the fun that adults provide. We won't be back to this location sadly and this is the first time I have given such a bad review I am just very very disapointed. Laura Linton

Beautiful home with views but a hike to the river
The house is beautiful. It is exactly as listed (for the most part). I got caught up with the beautiful pictures to read everything. So I didn’t realize most of the bedrooms have no TVs in them. To go to the river is a legit hiking trip. It’s bunch of stairs going down to this octagon table area then down more stairs, then it’s a straight down to this, kinda a road, kinda not. Once you get to the bottom anything you forgot you will just have to do without because then it’s a straight up hiking trip. The screened gazebo thing is useless. It’s way down the river, more of a hike. It appeared to be not used for a long time. The house is beautiful but it could use a little tlc in the game room. The pool table had some issues. Hot tub never got super hot. Five of us couldn’t get the tv in the game room to work. In the picture it’s 2 seats but now it’s a couch. There are no spare blankets anywhere in the house. The internet and cell service is sketchy but that’s to be expected in the mountains. So other than those few first world problems the house is amazing. It’s big and decorated perfectly. The kitchen is stocked with anything you’ll need. If you’re planning a trip for a large party bring laundry detergent. You’ll have to wash towels. The views from the cabin is great. There’s one area to the right across the river where it was clear cut at some point by the power people and isn’t the prettiest thing to look at however it was really neat to try and spot the deer in the clear cut. There were always tons and it’s like playing where’s Waldo. The cabin is located up a mountain so it has a lot of twists and turns to get to it. The house is built on the side of a mountain so there is no yard anywhere, other than the hike to the river. It’ location of the cabin is excellent. You’re 12 mins from downtown Blue Ridge but it’s completely secluded. The trip we had to Blue Ridge was one of my most favorite vacations and the house was a huge part of making that happen. You will not be disappointed with this house or it’s views from 2 levels with many different type of the perfect outdoor patio furniture.

Fallen Timber Lodge
Fallen Timber Lodge is an extremely beautiful property. The fit and finishes of both the home and furnishings are also thoughtful. Fallen Timber Lodge is water front and very isolated for privacy with friends and family. During our stay there were a few things that were In need of repair. The gas stove top required a manual light for each eye with every use. The ice maker on the fridge doesn’t work. Lastly, there were 3 leaks in the ceiling of the kitchen, which required pot placement to prevent damage to kitchen table or slip and fall. Even with these minor inconveniences, we’d still book another getaway at the Fallen Timber Lodge.

Beautiful home, but a few issues
The good: gorgeous, clean, spacious home. 5 large bedrooms with private baths provided private spaces for everyone with beautiful views and separate living spaces too. Large kitchen, good workspace, reasonably well stocked. Issues: No cutting board. Notified management the first morning. Never responded. Hot Tub wouldn’t heat. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM when 5 ladies go on a girls trip. It appears to be functional...is warm, but will not heat up past 95 degrees. First time we thought we had made a mistake. The next day we tried again and no luck. There are no instructions, but we all have operated hot tubs so knew what we were doing. We never got it to work. Only there 3 nights. This happens far to often with rentals and is big disappointment. Furniture sofas and chairs are huge with very deep seating. Not super comfy for most women. Fire pit: as others have noted it is a long way to the river, and parts of it are very rugged, including going through a little creek/ditch. Once you get to it, there are no chairs. What is point of fire pit with no chairs? How do you get the wood down to it? The worst: The stove burners do not work properly. I see a review from June 2018 about this same issue. Most burners do not light. To light them, a battery operated torch is required. (There are laminated notes explaining this in the house, so is obviously an ongoing issue) If they do light, the starter flint continues to click during cooking. This was scary and is clearly a safety hazard. Get a new stovetop! This place could be the very best if these issues are addressed.

Perfect Couples Getaway
The cabin was the perfect size for our group - the private bathrooms with full-size beds were exactly what we needed. Most cabins have twin or bunk-beds so this a great find. The layout of the hotel is well-designed. The VIEWS out the back of the cabin are the priceless feature of this property. The huge staircase down the back of the property is a majestic. It hasn’t been a week and I’ve already had multiple people reach out to inquire about this specific cabin!

Beautiful Cabin but...
Cabin is beautiful. Went on a college reunion with 4 other women. The only problem we had was the A/C. it was a big problem. The owner has a "nest" which means that the owner controls the air. The two bedrooms upstairs were an oven at night. One of the girls left the last night because she couldn't sleep at all because it was over 80 degrees and didn't sleep at all. Spoke with the management team (they were very very nice), they tried to help me and offered to monitor the a/c. That didn't work either. It was freezing on main level to make the upper level bearable - but that only lasted up to 2 hours, then the "nest" went back to 74 degrees.. Besides the fact, when you go to a condo / hotel / home... you enter, set the temperature and yr done - that's all included in the price of the rental. On another note - the scenery, the cabin and everything was absolutely perfect...

Clean but maintance required
For our weekend family weekend get-a-way we did not order the one man gardener early Saturday or Sunday morning as our alarm clock, and who stayed for almost 5 hours on Saturday. Not the peaceful, tranquil setting we had read about online. We gave up and packed up early Sunday morning because we had had enough. We also did not expect a power outage Saturday morning which meant we had to drive into Blue Ridge for breakfast. We were unable to sit outside on the back porch due the the carpenter bees drilling holes in the wooden roof, nor could we sit on the lower level outside table as someone had left a candle in the middle of the table that had melted everywhere due to the weather. Nor could we sit inside the little screen cabin by the river because it is in need of some much needed TLC and you can not even open the door. The dishwasher needs replacing, it is riddled with almost what I would call mildew, the upper oven door does not seal properly, the kitchen cabinet door hinges are falling off some cabinets and the first 2 burners on the cooktop do not ignite. Yes, we spoke with the Property Manager Saturday morning when we lost power and expressed our disappointment about the gardener that morning. Yes we wrote to Cabin Rentals of Georgia expressing our disappointment with our experience at Fallen Timber Lodge property via email and once again, no response or acknowledgement of our rather less than average stay in their high end property.

Beautiful Cabin and Scenery!
We stayed in this beautiful home for five days and loved every minute! The home was clean and clutter free. Beds were very comfortable as well as the sofas and chairs. Every room has tv's and they all worked very well. Walmart was only about 20 mins away and was good for grocery shopping. The rooms are all a very nice size. The living room windows overlooking the scenery were just beautiful to look out all day. The porch is great and has lots of seating. There are stairs down to another picnic table (I think it was about 5 sets of 15 steps to picnic table) and then another set of steps down to hill. At the hill you had to walk down a slope to the flat area by the river, but if you are up for the walk the river is just gorgeous. We even noticed there may be another path to walk down that didn't look so steep. We will definitely come back to this home...the service, location and comfort factor are just what is needed for a nice getaway!
