We had to wait for two hours to check in due to fire trucks investigating an issue. We just travelled from Toronto with many suitcases as my son is moving to Alberta. We had an appointment to go to in the afternoon and couldn’t make it any longer. We asked if we could store the suitcases at the Homewood Suites while we go out, but we weren’t allowed to. When finally we were able to check-in, we asked if we could be offered a discount on our stay as we had to be in the cold for so long. The answer was ‘No, as that was not a hotel issue, that was unfortunate event that needed the firemen to be here’.

This is more like an Indian-run family hotel instead of a global chain that has a minimum service standard. It is actually funny that the front desk and then the manager ran into an argument with me on why the rear door is locked at 8 pm instead of the posted 11, so I can get in without walking in the cold all around the hotel. They act like they are the boss and likely think they are absolutely right. Amazing.
