A family Tradition
My late husband and I started coming to Sanibel in 1975. We came every year until 2023 because of the damage Ian did. He passed in June 2023. This year we all came back (three kids and their spouses and 5 grandkids 5-11 years old) to honor his memory and give him a water burial according to his wishes. I wanted to find some place we could all stay and enjoy the beach and have a pool too. Since homes on Sanibel are rented by the month only, I looked on Captiva. This is a great location. A short walk to the beach that wasn't overly crowded. A couple restaurants also within walking distance. The Island store for some essentials and our own pool. The kids and parents really enjoyed that covered pool. The kitchen and dining areas were more than adequate, and the two living spaces accommodated both adults and kids at the same time. With the downstairs everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The beach wagon and beach chairs and beach toys were also great to give everyone a place to sit and things to keep the kids occupied. The only downside was the elevator wasn't working. I know with the damage to so much of the island's rental properties everyone is on waiting lists to get many things repaired. For me especially, at 78 carrying things up and down the stairs was a challenge but we managed. When I called about the slow drain in one of the showers, that was taken care of in a timely manner. All in all a great stay. In 1976 we ate at the Mucky Duck for the first
