This is beautiful, well maintained and a very interesting place to stay! Besides very comfortable beds and spacious rooms, we enjoyed the recreation room with a pool table and foosball, too! We highly recommend this property to all visiting in the Cortez area.

Retro in Cortez

Retro inn is a dated older format motel with cinder black walls, renovated into a clitchy movie star and pop culture themed rooms. The bed was comfortable, and the hot water was plentiful. I did not care for the rainfall shower head that could not be adjusted. Plus, the tub drained slowly, so I'm standing in 4 inches of soapy water when done. The breakfast was plenty of carbs, and appealing if you want carbs. No fresh fruit or protiens. In the busy season, this hotel is outside my travel budget. I used points earned to bring down the cost, so gave them a try. It's a very cool property featuring themed rooms, lawn chess, yard chairs for the cool evenings, and pet area. You can even sit with Elvis! A nice stop for families wanting a change of pace.

"What a HOOT, my wife exclaimed"

We enjoyed our short time at the Retro Inn. We have a picture with Elvis for our memories and had a quiet, restful night. Breakfast was a good mix of items, fueling us for a Mesa Verde NP tour.

Great place

We were heading to Durango and wanted to shorten our drive. Cortez has a great brewery and a great Mexican restaurant we love. First time we stayed at Retro and it was great. Very clean and staff was friendly.

Classic comfort

This motel is simply fun. Retro style of a historic motel with all the modern comforts. Rooms are spacious and clean. Free continental breakfast with choices for most diets. Popular with families so not a quiet get away, but an excellent value for the convenience of location.

This inn was so cute, I loved the quaintness and the decor. The bed was comfortable and the room was pretty clean. The continental breakfast was awesome. My complaint was the bathtub was clogged, after taking a 2 minute shower the water was up past my ankles. If I had a shower that drained properly I would definitely stay here again!
