About this property

Entire place

The Barn House Lodge

A unique lodging experience. A barn turned home. The barn was built in the year 1900. We are located in downtown Spillville, IA. A unique Czechoslovakian town. This barn is part of once was a working farm before the town of Spillville was incorporated in 1920. This barn was once a home to cows, horses and I am sure some chickens. We have the resident "barn cat" Stormy patrolling the property. The living room and master bedroom is in what was once the hay loft. The kitchen is where they parked the tractor at night. The large private back yard was once a corn field. The Turkey River is just a short distance from the private back patio. Bring your kayaks or canoe and drop in right here. You may see deer helping themselves to the neighbors apple trees.

Spillville is a village founded by a German. This town grew into a refuge for Czechs. This small Czech village became a retreat for composer Antonin Dvorak.

Today Spillville is a small town in the northeast corner of Iowa nestled among the soft rolling hills of the Turkey River Valley. A dedicated community of families strive to preserve the rich history, heritage and Czech culture.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private patio. A Smart television and a DVD player are provided for your entertainment, while complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
This smoke-free vacation home features a stereo, books, and a playground. Amenities and recreational activities include games, a video library, and cross-country skiing nearby.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Quick trip and a road win against Luther College
This property is a gem. The location was perfect for our trip, as it's only 10 minutes to the campus and about 13 minutes into Decorah. The backyard is amazing - we watched as a bald eagle perched next to the stream. The interior is so unique and comfortable. Although we have NO reason to come back to this part of Iowa, we just might make another trip to stay in this barn home again.

Excellent Property and Host
We stayed here while we toured NE Iowa, specifically the Decorah area. This property is only 10 minutes from Decorah and is amazing! Everyone had their own bed, we did smores over the fire, grilled steaks, and enjoyed the many games from the closet. Host left us farm fresh eggs in the fridge which we made into homemade McMuffins! The river out back is beautiful and I can't wait to go back again in the summer! This host is gracious, thoughtful and has every detail covered!
