Clear Springs Log Cabin | Pet-friendly | Historic

The love of history, romance, quiet and adventure is elevated while staying at this cabin. The log room of the cabin was built in 1846, the year the State of Texas issued a title to this ranch's first owner (a copy on display). A sample of the original interior finish (mud and straw) is also displayed. A stone kitchen and bedroom were added at later dates along with the modern bathroom. The log cabin was home to frontiersmen, but for 60 or more years it was used as a barn. Your host and family worked for three years to make this house the special place it is today.

The native stone front rock porch leads into the log cabin. The living room is furnished with an antique couch and chair placed to enjoy TV/DVD. The bedroom is furnished with a king bed. An antique armoire is provided for hanging clothes and stores extra bedding. Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom where you can enjoy a luxurious bath in a 7' whirlpool tub.

The kitchen has an antique wood burning stove which has been converted to two burner electric cooktop. A refrigerator, electric oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and slow cooker are also provided. Dishes are in the old pie safe. Your hosts cook and deliver a hot breakfast each day.

The second bedroom is found across the dogtrot breezeway, and although rented as part of the cabin it is very private for the second couple in your group. Inside is a queen bed faced to enjoy the flat screen TV over the door. There is a small coffeebar with a coffeemaker and microwave. A table for two is at the foot of the bed to enjoy morning coffee. The bath has a large tiled shower and notice the antique cabinet with the sink sunk into it. There are lots of special touches in this bedroom/bath, but my favorite is all of the Mason jars that have been converted into light fixtures.

Outside is a special treat! Flowers to attract butterflies and hummingbirds are grown as seasons permit. The spacious backyard has a picnic table, grill, glider rocker and a lovely view of ranchland. Deer are often seen. A pond for fish (bass) is nearby. This is a working ranch, but you are welcome to walk trails or jog down the mile long granite gravel road. Hunting season begins the first weekend in November and continues through early January. This is a time to be very careful, so check with your host before hiking during the hunting season.

*The home is pet friendly and will accept up to two dogs. However, there is a pet fee of $32/dog/night. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.*

Peaceful + Cozy!

We had a very nice time at the cabin. It was the perfect weekend—peaceful & cozy! We enjoyed having the kitchen and both a nice big tub & a very modern shower with lots of hot water. Our dogs (and us too) loved the yard, we enjoyed sitting outside and just relaxing. Thank you for the wonderful hill country hospitality!

Enchanted Rock

This cabin was very convenient for our recent trip to Enchanted Rock state park, while being close; it also has an abundant amount of facts and history that you can indulge at your own time. It also shows a different side of life that people from the city that aren’t accustomed to. A great stay, and also a big piece of Texas history.

Wonderful!

This was the perfect place for our family of 5 to spend Thanksgiving. We had more than enough space and loved meeting Maria the donkey. We had so much fun shopping in Fredericksburg and exploring Enchanted Rock state park.

A step back in time

Such a beautiful setting to spend the weekend. Wonderfully restored house with loft and separate quarters was perfect for my spouse and I along with our two grown sons. The hummingbirds were everywhere. The goat and donkey provided much entertainment, and the deer were prolific. Can’t forget the amazing breakfasts our genial hosts provided. Can’t wait to come back to this enchanted place.

Peaceful and private

Even though it is close 8 miles from downtown Fredericksburg, it's still remote enough to feel like you're really far out. Host was very nice. There's a donkey and goat that came up from the pasture to beg for breakfast. Just a very quaint historic log cabin. Seem to have everything you could need.

Texas Historic Charmer

Clear Springs Log Cabin has been lovingly restored with all the modern amenities while keeping the charm of yesteryear. We were greeted by the ranch donkey upon our arrival and it saw us off on our last day. The owner delivered a delicious breakfast each morning. We were honored to have the opportunity to talk with the husband and learn more about the history of the ranch, the renovations, and life stories. We hope to stay here again.

Charming Cabin in the Country

My family and I stayed at this quaint little cabin over the New year's holiday. It was perfect for us. It allowed us to relax, enjoy the quiet country setting, and get in some quality family time. The cabin was renovated by the property owner and his family and they did a wonderful job. We loved reading about the history of the property and the cabin in the book the owner put together. We also enjoyed the homemade breakfasts prepared for us every morning. They were all delicious!!! The landscaping on the property was just beautiful! We also loved that the yard was fenced so we could bring along our dogs - who also loved the trip! We made friends with the donkey in the pasture behind us and just truly had a great time. We highly recommend this property and hope to stay there again in the future.

This is a beautifully renovated German settler's home. We enjoyed the 400 acre property it's on and the delicious "German breakfasts". It is about 10 minutes from Fredricksburg and a quiet and peaceful location.

A step back into history staycation.

A wonderful location to get away from the busy life of the city. Quiet little cottage to get away from it all. Great history with this little place, just understand you have No internet, getting away from it is nice! Amazing made from scratch breakfasts are served by the hosts that make the trip all that more enjoyable. Large spa tub in one bedroom bath, and shower in other, couples need to share time in getting cleaned up to go out. Lovely place enjoyed the time there.

Relaxing Vacation Spot with Wonderful Hosts!

My husband and I took our mom's for the weekend. Renovated barn was perfect as we all had our own private space. Lots of interesting historic reads throughout the cabin. Bathrooms were luxurious and modern. Enjoyed watching the humming birds and butterflies in the morning, Best part was the homemade breakfast, we are all still talking about how good it was. Would recommend for couples who want to relax and families that want to get away and enjoy some nature.
