The lobby was amazing. The second floor are and photography gallery was exceptional. We stayed in the Annex. The detail of the interior design was greats loved the turntable and records that we were able to use. What a great change from chain hotels.

Extremely friendly staff and room was great. Great historical hotel. Didn't have A/C so it was difficult to sleep in hot room. Even with window wide open and fan on, circulation in room was not very good. If there was A/C, I would have given 5 stars for comfort.

Worth a try
Wanted to try El Rancho based on reviews and historical relevance. Wasn’t disappointed. Very unique. Sorry no ghosts. Room is small. Bathroom very small but generous size shower. Had dinner and breakfast at property. A bit better than ok. But a lot of selections. Went to bar after check in for excellent margaritas. Bar selections were impressive. Lots of Hollywood history here.

Cool old hotel and a Route 66 icon. Well kept and clean. Large rooms but tiny bathrooms. But that's to be expected in older hotels and not a problem for able-bodied persons. Great breakfast in the restaurant. The balcony was really relaxing to enjoy. Security walks the parking lot at all times, so I'm not sure what that means. I didn't see anything to be concerned about.

Tiny rooms
Room was smaller than what you would find in downtown Tokyo micro hotel and I paid extra for "deluxe" room. Bump around like a pinball and forget bathroom... As a bonus stay here if you enjoy seeing homeless wander parking lot

Real gem
I like unique hotels and El Rancho is a gem. Interesting history, restaurant with good food and beer selection, and comfortable room. Gift shop. Everyone I dealt with was professional and friendly. Got a great night sleep and explored old Gallup. Will return!

We enjoyed the history in the hotel rooms and lobby. The restaurant was very good. The old hand operated elevator was fun. A great stay that we haven't quit telling our friends and family about.
