I recently stayed at the DoubleTree Flagstaff, and overall, it was a pretty decent experience. We had two rooms, and the hotel building itself is quite the throwback with its old-school charm. Even the elevators seem like they’ve been around since the dawn of time.
However, I do have a bone to pick about the amenities. I mean, who doesn’t need a proper coffee machine or hot water for tea in the room? Instead, you have to trek down to the restaurant for a hot beverage. And don’t even think about using a microwave, because there isn’t one!
On the bright side, they sell small necessity items and medicine right next to the check-in point. I ventured over there to grab some Benadryl for my allergies, only to find that a couple of the medicines were expired by two months. I pointed this out to the front desk and then hightailed it to the nearby Walgreens.
The surroundings aren’t much to write home about—it’s smack dab opposite a car dealership. But hey, it’s within walking distance to the central area with plenty of dining options.
The rooms were clean, no issues there. But let’s talk breakfast! It’s not included, but the à la carte menu is totally worth it. My family had bacon, eggs, sausage, and avocado toast, and I, being a vegetarian, was thrilled to find a quinoa power bowl. There were plenty of vegetarian options without eggs, which is a rare find at breakfast joints.
