Originally built in the early 1900’s as a 3 room cabin, those 3 rooms remain with the original hardwood floors, tongue and groove paneling, and original interior doors. With the additions (both up and out!) and renovations, it is ready for your family and friends to enjoy! Located on Wayah Creek, just 5 miles from scenic Wayah Bald and the Appalachian Trail, this home will exceed your expectations for comfort, convenience and relaxation. Enjoy lazy days and star lit nights lounging in the 6 person Hot Springs Grande hot tub overlooking the water or walk across our bridge for a hike into the Nantahala National Forest! Make this home base for all there is to discover in gorgeous Western North Carolina, from bountiful waterfalls and white water rafting to gem mining and everything in between! Trailer your boat and visit some of the beautiful mountain lakes in the area....Lake Nantahala is a beautiful 10 mile drive away. And don't forget your fishing poles!!!
Inside the home, you’ll experience the creature comforts of Starlink High Speed WiFi as well as Dish TV programming on our 3 new wall mounted large televisions. Our completely renovated open kitchen with state of the art gas range will please the finest chef in your group! The large pantry has plenty of space for all your groceries and the cabinets are stocked with pots, pans, gadgets and even a crockpot (did someone say boiled peanuts?!). Gather around our bar made from a 100 year old Poplar Tree or relax in the overstuffed chairs in the river room as you listen to the soothing sounds of the rushing creek. In the winter, keep yourself toasty beside the wood burning fireplace. Enjoy the warmth of the heated marble floors in the foyer and upstairs bath!
There’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out with one bedroom on the main level with a queen bed and wide screen television adjacent to a newly renovated tile bathroom with walk in shower. Two oversized bedrooms are located upstairs. Behind beautiful sliding barn doors is a large family bedroom with one queen bed and 2 twin beds plus a large walk-in closet. The Master bedroom has a king bed overlooking the river and large sitting area with sofa, 2 chairs, and a wall mounted TV for enjoying from the bed or sitting area. There is a private balcony off the Master bedroom for soaking in the sights and sounds of the water below. The 2 upstairs bedrooms shared a large bathroom with heated marble floors and heated towel rack to knock the chill off on even the coldest winter mornings! The bathroom has an inviting slipper tub for long soaks or quick dips! If showering is your preference, the downstairs bath will meet your needs!
Gather around our beautiful handmade wood dining table in the river room for meals and game nights! Or enjoy time together on the creek side deck with picnic table and rocking chairs. The laundry room with new washer and dryer is also on the main level so you can pack light and go home with clean clothes!
Conveniently located on Wayah Road, also known as The Mountain Waters Scenic Byway, a paved road, the home is easily accessible even during inclement weather. We're just far enough out of downtown Franklin (8 miles) to be secluded yet we're right on the way to so many mountain adventures! Franklin/Macon County has 16 local waterfalls, world renown gem mining, and numerous hiking and biking trails including the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail. Grocery shopping and restaurants are less than 10 minutes away. A quick 15 minutes to downtown Franklin, you'll find antique shops, local crafts, restaurants, entertainment and locally owned Micro Breweries.
