The apartment

As you walk through the red door you are immediately drawn to the bedrooms with their luxurious linen and Tasmanian made Waverley woollen throws. Spectacular river views can be seen from the main bedroom and to your left the single bedroom has a desk for a quiet moment of study, reading or relaxing.

Go down the spiral stairs to the light and airy living area featuring lounge, dining ta-ble and chairs, TV/DVD and stereo. Step on to the deck with its outdoor furniture and take in the views beyond of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington.

Off the lounge is a well appointed kitchen, with espresso machine, microwave and full size fridge and oven. The bathroom with its shower and toilet features front load-ing washing machine and dryer.

The decor is contemporary with details of Tasmanian art, craft and design. Heating in all rooms makes this a cosy place in winter. The deck allows for al fresco dining in summer as you watch the ever-changing activity on the river.

Great apartment close to all amenities
We loved the Red Door (now grey) for it's layout and design - an excellent choice for any couple looking to explore Hobart and be within walking distance of the market - we loved the kitchen, deck and main bedroom views - many thanks to Robin and Kate for stocking some coffee and milk for the first morning after our flight. Stores on Sandy Bay Road are easy to access for additional provisions. Overall a great place to hang your hat for a few days.

Fantastic well appointed apartment Warm and very comfortable Wonderful views looking towards Wrest Point Close proximity (walking distance) to Mona ferry, Salamanca Markets, TMAG etc Be careful on the circular staircase Would highly recommend this accomodation and would make a return visit

The apartment with wonderful views is conveniently located within walking distance to the Salamanca markets. It is a well serviced small place suitable for 2 to 3 people. It has everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. The hosts are great and very responsive to any queries.

Handy to Salamanca attractions.
Property is well presented and comfortable. Parking was a problem as neighbours park their vehicle on an angle on the footpath. It was necessary for us to park on the street. On street parking restrictions apply.

The apartment was in a great location, close to Salamanca and an easy walk to the CBD.
This is a convenient location. Nice and clean, good laundry facilities and adequate space for 2 people. Good Wi-Fi. It is quite small, therefore best suited to those who do not plan to spend too much time in the accommodation. There is no parking space and on-street parking Mon-Fri is 2 hours only. We had difficulty getting a parking space close to the accommodation.

There are so many things to love about Red Door. For me, it was the absolute privacy, the historic background of its origin in an historic location, the outlook from the patio and main bedroom over the Derwent River, the information booklet that was well organised and very informative, the provisions in the bathroom and kitchen, the top class bedding and linen, the lovely decor, and a touch that I have not seen before - business cards pinned to a cork board for local restaurants/bakeries and other local highlights and more cards stacked on a tray allowing you to take one or two with you on a day or night out. I have stayed at many places in Hobart and this would have to be my new favorite to return to.

Perfect location for a visit to Hobart
This apartment was 5 minutes walk from all the nicest parts of Hobart so is an ideal location for a short visit. While the apartment is small, it had everything we required and was nice and warm.

A well-appointed apartment, but a bit too cramped for three.
Luckily we left our cat at home, because there’s not room to swing a cat in this apartment. Possibly perfect for two people, but too small for three. There was so little room in the main bedroom that I had to leave my suitcase in the foyer, where I got dressed each day. The upstairs bedrooms, the downstairs bathroom and a tiny spiral staircase in between made night time trips to the bathroom perilous. We also found it difficult to shower. The cubicle was so small it was not easy to turn around without banging into the the glass sides. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, and the unit was well appointed.
