Close to everything!
This was my first time staying in Hood River. The location was great! I was able to walk to restaurants, breweries, wine tasting rooms, and some great local shops. The grocery store was not far, but not quite close enough to walk.
The house has all the necessities to make a short term stay worry free. Examples are full size washer and dryer, full kitchen with cookware, dishes, wine glasses, and containers for leftovers, comfortable beds, and plenty of towels.
The house is near train tracks, so you can hear the train going by. It startled me the first night until I realized what it was. I got used to it fairly quickly.
Throughout my stay, I could was a smell a sulphur odor ever time I would use water. I wasn’t sure what it was and it would go away after a little bit, so I didn’t say anything. It wasn’t until my second to last night (I stayed there 57 nights) that the smoke detectors went off at 2 am for no apparent reason. They continued going off for well over 12 hours. I called the office to let them know and they sent someone over. When I left, they thought there was carbon monoxide is the house causing the smell as well as the smoke detectors to go off. When I left, the smoke detectors were still going off and the office was taking care of it, so I don’t know the final outcome.
Despite the potential carbon monoxide poisoning, it was a great place to stay. I’d recommend it as long as the problem has been fixed.
