The Sundance cabin is a romantic, one bedroom, one bathroom get away is perfect for a couples who enjoy nature. This cabin has a front porch with rocking chairs and a hot tub that outdoors under the stars. There are lots of hiking trails for all levels of hikers. We have a beautiful waterfall that is a short and easy walk from the cabin. The trail system also hooks up with the Appalachian trail so the possibilities are endless. Fishing is available in the creek in front of the cabin or on the larger creeks in our area. The creeks are stocked yearly with trout. Stargazers will enjoy the uninterrupted beauty of the night sky. This cabin has a spectacular view of the moon rise. There are two labyrinths on the property for you to walk if you choose. We love sharing our 100 acres of paradise with you. Our land adjoins the national forest so the possibilities are really endless.
We are located 13 miles from Hot Springs where there are quaint little shops, restaurants, an outfitters store and rafting company. We are about a 1 hour drive from Asheville, NC, home of the beautiful Biltmore mansion. There are many activities in our area including, river rafting, kayaking, zipling, hiking, horse back riding and gem mining. There is also local bluegrass music, wonderful drives that lead you on a quilt trail or a barn trail.
Your cabin comes equipped with everything you need for you stay. We provide a landline phone and Wifi. We are sticklers about cleanliness and care for our cabins. It has fresh linens, cooking utensils, a kitchen, an outdoor grill, an outdoor fire pit with free firewood, Roku streaming tv, dvd, cd, music system, electric fire place. The hot tub is completely drained, cleaned and refilled with fresh spring water after each stay.
For your convenience, we provide a self check in process. You may arrive anytime after 3 pm to enjoy your place in paradise. The hot tub will be warm, the lights on and the key available on the table. We live about 1/2 mile from the property, so if you need anything, you are welcome to give us a call. We believe in allowing our guests their privacy, so you will not be disturbed unless you need something.
This cozy cabin is located in the Western NC mountains surrounded by Pisgah National Forest, just off the Appalachian trail near Lemon Gap and Max Patch. This makes it a great place to offer trail support if you happen to have a friend or family member who is hiking the trail. The cabin is also within a day excursion to the Smoky Mountain National Park.
There is easy access to the French Broad River which offers a wide variety of river rafting, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The NC Arboretum, the Folk Life Center, the Blue Ridge Parkway are attractions that many of our guests enjoy. Cherokee and Maggie Valley are also within reasonable driving distance and offer great day excursions.
Max Patch is a short drive from our cabin and offers a spectacular 360 degree view from the top. It is an easy to moderate hike from the parking lot to the top. Many of our guests visit there to watch the sun go down, or to take a day hike. The Appalachian Trail goes right across the ridge. If you are lucky enough to visit us around the time of the full moon, you can get a spectacular show from the top of Max Patch. If you go up on the day just before the moon is full, the sun will set just as the moon is rising. Standing on the top of the mountain during this time is a unique, spectacular experience.
Wild flower enthusiasts will love exploring the woods surrounding the cabins. There are many beautiful and rare species of flowers blooming from early spring to late autumn. We have been fortunate enough to spot showy orchids, trillium, wild geranium, tiger lily, jack in the pulpit, lady slipper, lily of the valley just to name a few. Early spring also brings dogwood blossoms and wild azaleas in abundance. The Rhododendron are particularly spectacular in the summer months as they flourish along our creeks and cover the hillsides with pinks and whites. It seems that almost every day from April to late October, something new is blooming in these beautiful mountains.
Bird lovers will be thrilled to find that we are a major migration route for many songbirds and butterflies. We have a huge population of hummingbirds. A very thrilling site is the indigo buntings who visit our area in the spring. They flash an incredible incandescent blue when they fly by. We have birds such as the nuthatches, towhees, cardinals, orioles, wrens, hawks and many others. We also have many goldfinches and purple finches.
