Although we had booked weeks before for 10 days, there was no one around at this small, isolated GH. We knocked on 2 doors repeatedly outside the locked entry door. Eventually a sleepy youth opened the door and without a word gestured he would contact the owner. We waited in the parking area- hot and sticky at mid-day- surrounded by four wheel drives and array of scooters.
Over 20 minutes later the owner-manager arrived with about two words of English.
Apart from the small room, the cheap nylon bedding, the 300 channel TV without an English programme, the blocked sink, the flooding bathroom, our main concern was the building site next door barely a metre plus away.
The banging, crushing, hammering, drilling went on from early morning to dusk (including Saturday, despite the owner's denial).
As the building work is being done (as usual in Thailand) by hand, it's liable to last months if not years.
Avoid this eerie, dark, lonely, horribly noisy guest house.
