We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and have always had a pleasant stay. However, during this stay the hotel had sort of a musty smell throughout the hallways, lobby and our room. It could have been just dog smells but it did not smell fresh and clean.
I was also disappointing that the restaurant appeared to be closed. There was just one guy sitting at the bar. Two hours or so after we checked in, we went downstairs to the bar/restaurant, the same guy was still sitting at the bar. 10-15 minutes after we sat at the bar, the bartender came to take our drink order and we were told they were out of Crown Royal whiskey. I've been drinking Crown for almost 50 years so I was stunned that a bar had run out of one of the most popular whiskeys on the market today. I could perfectly understand they could run out of some odd, obscure liquor or beer, but out of Crown??? Crown is all I drink and I've never been in a bar that had run out of Crown. We were planning to eat at the restaurant that night but since they had no Crown, we left and had a delicious dinner at III Forks Steak House that was walking distance from the hotel. In the past, we always ate at the bar/restaurant and the dishes were reasonably priced for the outstanding food we received. BTW, there was NO ONE was eating breakfast in the restaurant the next day. We were quite disheartened about this most recent stay and will most likely seek accommodations elsewhere on our trip to Jacksonville in September.
