Rooms have a retro decor which we liked. However some maintenance, like making sure door fits properly and doesn’t have gaps, is in order. Outside the fire pits are inviting, and pet area is clean and maintained. What we really didn’t like is arriving at 7PM to find front office closed. A note on door directed us to the “sister property” down street to check in. Not far but when you’ve traveled/hiked all day, have a hot takeout pizza in car along with a pup who desperately needs out of car, a courtesy heads-up would be appreciated. Same thing in morning. You go to other hotel for breakfast. We drove there, but had to leave a person in car with air conditioning running for our dog. Checkout was at sister property, too. We were told that the manager at Aiken’s needs some days off…well, there were 3 women working desk at this Best Western. You really couldn’t send one over to Aiken’s? Property should be up-front in their description.
