Such a cool experience living in art and staying at BnA Alter Museum. We stayed in two different rooms to double our experience. Great location, clean and good breakfast, with very friendly hotel staff. Rooms are spacious, but definitely about form over function. While I celebrate that this is about art, this is still a hotel room. There needs to be a hook for bath towels and a place to set bathroom items, and at a minimum, a chair or bench to sit on in the room.

This is an experience that will leave you speechless. Between the hostesses working the front desk and explaining everything so well, with a smile on their face, to the amazing decorated rooms. Don't even get me started on how nice breakfast is/the cafe. This is a must visit. Even for one night.

Staff was really friendly and polite. The room was an art piece. The only improvements are: - guests should not ask for the room to be cleaned as it is a high end hotel so it should come as a default service. - toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash and shampoo are not available inside the room but at front desk. I don’t understand why?!?! - we were 3 people (2 adults and 1 kid) but they always left only 2 towel for shower. A bit annoying. Coffee at the cafe was good! For the price, it could be better but I can’t complain either.

One week in Kyoto
Unique place to stay. Excellent staff and the rooms were very clean. Our room was spacious enough for a family of four with luggage. We had a large tapestry hanging from the ceiling in our room as our art piece. Very cool and the family enjoyed it too. The bathroom was very clean and spacious too! We were about a 10 minute walk away from the Gion district and Nishiki Market so that was a plus.

BNA hotel is in a great location – would 100% vouch for its proximity to great food, shopping etc. The hotel itself felt a bit old, and not as comfortable as I would've liked. But I did like that there's a cafe upstairs!

Pure style over substance. Staff on check-in made us feel as if they were doing *us* a favour for staying there. Our room was interestingly designed but not comfortable. The sharp concrete edge of the headboard worried me about potential accidents. The room’s light switches were all over the place. A warning from the staff made us scared to touch anything in the room. The bathroom was good though. Location great.

Art hotel
We loved our room 903, the theme was underwater world and it was fun to sleep in art. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast needs to be ordered the day before and was tasty. All in all a really great and unique experience.

Any artist or art lover will be in heaven here. My room was "continuum" super meditative. Bathroom was designer level. The HUGE bonus i knew nothing about before: Cherry Blossom and river view. Staff (especially Luca) were polite and gave recommendations. Book early!

The king is naked - stay away
The hotel is very expensive and supposed to concept based. The reality is that we got uncomfortable room, impossible bed, tge "concept" means that you have no normal sofa or chairs invthe room, no placevfor luggage. Even the "concept" breakfast meabs you have to set the exact hour you want your breakfast and exactly whatyou will wantvto eat tomorrow. You get only one drink and a sort of sandwich. It is not what expected from a very expensive hotel. We felt someone is laughing at us, which is jot pleasant at all. The king is naked and I recommend you to stay away from that "concept" hotel.

Our stay at BnA was everything we were looking for and more! Aside from the unique art rooms and concepts, BnA is simply great as a hotel. Location was exactly where we wanted to be. Walking distance from Nishiki Market, shopping, across the river from Gion. We traveled with our toddler, so we did not make it to as many temples as we have in our previous trip, but location would have been perfect for it. Speaking of toddlers, because the rooms are art based, they may not be the most child friendly, but they have a crib, which is more than what we were and to find while searching for a place to stay, and it was still great for our family. The staff is exceptional and available to help us with many of our questions during our stay and assisting with our transportation inquiries. Would be happy to stay here again on our next trip and experience a new room!

Tha king is really naked - tell everyone
I pay a lot of money to get a stupid concept room. Not comfortable, no chairs to sit, no place to hang things or closet. Stupid old TV, office table that was way too large. No real lobby or a normal breakfast with choices that fit the price, only sandwich and one cup of coffee or soft drink. You must define the exact hour you will wake up for breakfast and what you are going to eat a day before
