Harvey South lake Tahoe is currently undergoing a lot of renovation. Our room was a bare minimum of quality at best. The shower didn’t work well, the outlets were so loose that when you plugged your charger in it fell out, the floor outside our door was literally duct taped, everything looked pretty old and not very nice, the grout around the tub was dirty, it was very loud from construction noise from about 8am on, the hot tub was not functioning in either Harvey’s or Harrahs, our room keys stopped working for no reason, and there was a dog next-door that barked a lot. It was very difficult to get a hold of anyone (by phone or at the front desk which had long lines) to ask a question, maybe this is because it was near Christmas. That being said, the price was reasonable, they brought up a mini fridge for us to use in our room, and it had close access to shopping and snowboarding at Heavenly. In addition to the price that we paid on Expedia, there was a $30 a night resort fee and $20 per night parking fee.

Access to parking is easy. However, lack of signs and information to hotel lobby check in. In addition, rooms are rather outdated and kind of run down. Sound insulation was bad which make a good sleep difficult.

A security guard said my kids couldn’t walk through the casino with me to get to our room. Ridiculous, we walked through anyway since we needed to walk through the tunnel for the arcade. He also said I couldn’t use the ATM while my children were with me and told me to leave them downstairs.. they are 9, 5 and 3! Absolutely not.

The day of the nugget was much better. This one there was a fee for parking. There’s construction going on everywhere. The rooms are really awesome. Save some money and stay next-door at the nugget.
