Amazing location and staff were friendly. The property itself looks dated but other things make up for it. Absolutely loved our stay and definitely recommend it.

Needs serious updates
One of our worst stays in New Zealand. The heaters did not work at all even though it was freezing outside. More importantly, unreliable hot water and when it was on it was either scalding hot or freezing cold. Impossible to find the right temperature as the electric water heater was low end product that couldn’t control the temperature at all. Bathroom was also not clean and the towels hangers all broken. Quite dangerous to wash kids. Not enough power outlets to charge devices. Would not come back.

This is a really well-situated hotel with great views of Lake Tekapo and easy access to all shopping and dining options in the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had read some previous reviews regarding the noise in the rooms and those are true. You can hear a lot of what’s going on in adjacent rooms and in the rooms above you. However, it’s a worthy sacrifice given the proximity to the lake and the overall quality of the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff in both reception and the cafe were most friendly and welcoming. Room was very comfortable and clean. Our first stay in Tekapo but will certainly return to the Godley Hotel again!
