The master bedroom with private bathroom on second floor, additional bedroom on the first floor. 2nd Bathroom also on second floor. Full kitchen, large 10x20 deck on the front to enjoy sipping coffee as you are one of the first in the US to watch the sunrise. Sunset reflections on the ocean can be stunning in the evening. On a clear night I dare you to find a more stunning sky of stars. Grab a chair and watch falling stars or find every constellation you only have seen in books.

Watch local lobsterman gather the mornings catch and tend traps from the deck. Kayak Starboard Cove or walk Jasper's Beach and find your own beautiful Jasper rocks used around the world for fine art and jewelry. 75 miles away is an easy trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, a top US attraction. Hike Cadillac mountain (or drive up!) bring your bikes and ride the famous carriage trails that the Rockefellers installed back in the early 19th century.

Miles of converted railroad tracks make up the Down East Sunrise Trail system. A major attraction for ATV enthusiasts located in Machais 10 miles away. Rent a 2 or 4 passager ATV in town and explore 90 miles of ATV trails with coatal views. This also offers excellent biking on well maintained dirt trail. Don’t leave out the chance to explore the water with a kayak tour or rent your own from sunrise canoe and kayak in Machais, A trip to town is not complete without having a great meal at Helens Restaurant. At the very least you must have the Blueberry Pie made with world famous local berries. Of course its Maine so be prepared for weather. We can have a hot muggy day then fog engulfs us the next. Its all part of the experience.

Quoddy Head State Park is located four miles off Maine Route 189 in Lubec on the easternmost point of land in the United States. On its 532 acres, purchased by the state in 1962, the park features 4.5 miles of hiking trails, extensive forests, two bogs, diverse habitat for rare plants, and the striking, red-and-white striped lighthouse tower of West Quoddy Head Light. Quiet Summer Getaway
This property was a lovely place to spend some time winding down from a busy summer. The house is on a hill overlooking a bay, just off the Atlantic Ocean. There is a rocky beach literally across the road. The master bedroom faces the water, so it is a nice way to wake up, with the sunrise coming in. The house is comfortable, clean, and everything we needed for our family of 5. There is a deck attached, which is a perfect place to enjoy a coffee with the sunrise, or to enjoy a dinner while listening to the waves crash against the shore. The neighborhood was quiet, though there were other houses nearby. We had wildlife in the yard a few times (deer, and geese), which was nice. Our host Donna was amazing! She left great details for us on things to do and see. She also left a goody bag for us as well! She was very responsive when I had a couple of questions, which helped out. I know I've talked up the place a bit, but there is really a lot that is great about the property. Do be prepared to drive a bit if you need things, however. The nearest town is about 20 minutes - one way. It has groceries and a few smaller shops and restaurants. However, many other things (like a Walmart) are an hour away. Its not a deal breaker, in my opinion, but we weren't quite as prepared for that as we could have been. Just something to be mindful when staying there. If I get the chance to return to Maine, I would certainly want to stay at this lovely property again! Thanks Donna!

Great place; Great owner
Our trip coincided with the landfall of Hurricane Lee - Donna went above and beyond on getting us updates, suggestions and even offered us some flexibility on the rental dates. All ended up working out as planned and it was a fantastic stay. The place was as described and as expected. The deck is awesome, nighttime sky views are unbeatable, it’s a nice area for walks and the serenity of the water and quiet neighbors made for a great getaway. A 10/10 recommendation for the rental, the owner and everything about it!

Fantastic view
The house is very nice. Missing some basics- wine glasses, outdoor grill, very few electrical outlets and odd that both bathrooms are on the same level. The house was clean and wonderful to have washer/dryer and dishwasher. The view was outstanding and comfortable to sit on the deck and take daily walks to the point.

Just right vacation spot!
Our stay in Machiasport was wonderful. Terrific location that is quiet and off the beaten path with access to the best of what Maine has to offer. We visited Acadia, Lubec, Bar Harbor, as well as a few local spots like Devils Oven and Bad Little Falls. The views from the property were spectacular! One night there was a late day shower and the most stunning, rainbow appeared! It spanned the entire horizon! Never have we seen such a marvelous rainbow! The home was tidy and well organized. Just the right size for our family of four to relax after a day of exploring down east Maine. Donna was a delight to correspond with always Timely, friendly, and informative. Overall a wonderful vacation experience!

Everything was pretty much perfect. Appreciated having laundry soap, paper towels, paper plates, etc. we’re used to a king bed so the bed was a little uncomfortable. Loved being able to cook but it’s kind of dark by the stove. Maybe a small lamp on the side? It’s a beautiful area and neighbors were very nice. Enjoyed Matt’s lobster and Helen’s Cafe and of course, the deck.

A wonderful peaceful getaway!
The cottage is clean and well stocked. This location is great if you want to experience the heart of down east Maine. The view is spectacular and it’s amazing that you can see sunrise and sunset. Dark sky at night and it feels like you can touch the stars and planets. The house is well equipped and the host Donna is very responsive and helpful if you have a question! Jasper Beach is down the street there is an amazing beach is across the street and Roque Bluffs is an easy drive. Helens is a must for dinner at least once. Lubec is a great place to visit. We went whale watching and saw humpback whales! We would definitely go back to this cottage. All around great experience.

Best deck view ever
Four of us stayed here in late August and we spent a lot of time on the deck, watching the amazing dance of light and shadow, sun and fog, fishing boats on the water. The two artists in our party especially appreciated the view. We cooked most meals at home and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Sweet quiet neighborhood, nice neighbors, folks wave as they drive by. We did trips to Campobello (a little less than an hour away...easy to cross the border but do your homework and register with the "arriveCAN" app before you go), and also went to Great Wass Island (50 minutes away) for hiking and painting....a beautiful spot!! Another little gem is the Maine Coast Heritage Trust Long Point Preserve in Machiasport (25 minutes away). Don't miss a hearty meal at Helen's in Machias. The staff are all so friendly and the sweet potato fries were excellent! We just loved staying in this area and coming home to that amazing DECK!!!! Thank you! Catherine and company

The home was very nice and clean, we watched both the sun rise and the sun set on the front deck, the views are fantastic. The neighbors were wonderful. The only problem for us was that there wasn't enough things to do locally, we like to visit local towns and enjoy local restaurants and I found this missing. But if you want to sit on a deck read a good book and enjoy the ocean view I highly recommend a stay.

Unforgettable View
Photos don’t do the Ocean view from the porch and living room justice. It’s a bit of a haul from the little town of Machias but well worth it. The area is quiet and serene and the neighbors are all very friendly. The house was very clean, down to the bedding and the towels, and we didn’t really want for anything. Jasper beach is a pearl, 2 miles up the road. One thing I wish I brought to more fully enjoy the coast were water shoes- flip flops or bare feet don’t cut it. Another gem is Roques Bluff beach, which has soft white sand and at low tide you can go far out and only be waist deep, so it’s perfect for children. A musty odor in the downstairs bedroom caused by an earlier leak, which necessitated the window to remain open for our entire visit, was the only downside. However the owners were very responsive and we felt like they are eager to stay on top of maintenance. All in all it’s a great spot, a real gem for the money, and we were sad to leave it. We look forward to returning soon!

The home was very comfortable for the 6 of us, stocked with everything we needed, and very clean. The property manager was easy to reach and responded quickly to any questions we had. Awesome View
This house provided for the perfect relaxing Maine vacation, which was exactly what I was looking for. There were beautiful views from every room. The house was very clean and the host even left a gift basket filled with some locally made snacks, which I thought was a very sweet touch. The morning walks to the point at the end of the road were a special treat for our dog. We tried all the local restaurants which were good and got Captain Matt's lobster at the end of the road a couple of days. We went on some short nearby hikes a few of the days and to Eastport and New Brunswick one day but the best part of the vacation was sitting in the living room or on the deck and looking at the view of the ocean. I hope to come back here again.

This place was amazing- clean, comfortable, well stocked kitchen, everything you need to just get away from it all. We spent hours on the deck listening to the waves crash against the shore and soaking in the view. As they say- location, location, location-this had it in spades. I love Washington County and this location was a good home base to focus on parts not yet explored. I am already planning a return visit. Thank you!

Cozy, clean getaway with beautiful ocean views.
Stayed here a week in September. Great location....quiet and private, but not too far of a drive into town for groceries, etc. Loved sitting on the deck watching the sun rise and also the magnificent star-filled skies at night. House is clean and the photos are very accurate. Many essentials for starting out the week were supplied by the owner such as paper towels, dish-soap, shampoo, t.p., garbage bags, etc. It was just my hubby and I, but the house would easily accomodate 4 or 5 people. Kayaked right down the coast and saw seals and eagles! Owner was very quick to answer any questions before our arrival. Would not hesitate to recommend !

Machiasport is a gem in the Downeast area of Maine, close to amazing natural places such as Roque Bluffs State Park and West Quoddy Head Light House, plus the Jasper Beach right down the road... the best part of this particular home is the view... from virtually every room, you have a spectacular ocean view from which to watch the sunrise... such a peaceful area, and Donna was very responsive and easy to get in touch with... this is a rural setting, you do have to drive at least 20 minutes for groceries, etc., but it was well worth the getaway.
