I stop here on my long trips from Chattanooga to Hampton. It is a great quick over night with a funky feel. Clean quiet , kind of stately. And always affordable.

Like no other
We were totally amazed at everything here, terrible at names but the lady that checked us in was so nice and very knowledgeable of the place, we are already talking about a return trip this fall or early winter, love the history of the general Francis Marion and the architecture design is very interesting, I would encourage all to visit this place!!!

Beware, this hotel has a 24 hr advance cancelation policy contrary to the standard of 3pm the day of the reservarion. I got charged a full day when i canceled the morning of the reservation. I have it 3 stars because I did not stay there.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would stay again. The personnel were very nice as was everyone in that area. It was a small very quaint area that you could walk to breakfast and other restaurants. The down falls to this hotel was most importantly, it was street side parking so you had to park your car in the rear, carry your bags to the hotel, walk up a set of stairs to get to the main lobby to then get a baggage cart to go in the elevator. The rooms were nice but small. Hard wood floors were sticky from the humidity I guess, there was no table to set things on like food and such and the bathroom did not have a vanity, just a sink. It was clean and bed was comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at the General Francis Marion. The historic hotel could be difficult for those who require wheelchairs or can't walk up steps because there are steps required at both entrances. We were fine with that, but it should be noted. Also, if you are elderly or handicapped in a way that requires handbars in the shower, you will need to book a handicap room.
