Mt Ashland Log Cabin, Ski Area 10mi, Ashland 10mi, Swedish sauna, by Pacific CTr

Beautiful hand built log home nestled in the Siskiyou-Cascade Mountain forests of Southern Oregon. About 15 minutes to downtown Ashland, 20 minutes to Mt. Ashland Ski Area, and a four minute walk to the Pacific Crest Trail (a beautiful section with meadows, forests, ridges and Pilot Rock). This home is the perfect quiet, peaceful getaway: close enough to Ashland to be convenient, yet completely surrounded by old forests and mountains. Features include private covered parking, fully equipped kitchen, large private covered deck overlooking the forest, large sun room, Japanese ofuro hot tub, seasonal Swedish wood-fired sauna (October-mid May), and walking trails. If you need a full-size crib and high chair, please let us know. The sun room is like being in a glass tree house.
Concerns: there are no bear or mountain lions in this neck of the woods, so an evening stroll to watch the sunset is quite safe! We are above the elevations where poison oak grows. And no one has ever gotten a tick on them in these past forty years. Really, not even with working the land, doing forest thinning, etc. If an ambulance is needed, it takes them ten minutes to arrive.

Ashland is a lively and comfortable town. The Shakespeare Festival produces world-class theater. Rafting companies offer their usual adventures (in season) on the Rogue River. Noah's River Adventure is conveniently based out of Ashland and has an excellent reputation.
Our Pacific Crest Trail is just as beautiful as ever! Mt Ashland's trails and forest road are easily accessible, great for alpine hiking and mountain biking, and snows sports and sledding in winter. Our homestead is a good place to find freedom, peaceful relaxation, exercise and inspiration in the midst of forests, meadows and mountains. Lots of space for children to play freely, and room to roam! Kids love riding their bikes of all sizes on our private paved road, being that there are no cars to watch out for.
Mt Ashland Ski Area is a 20 minute drive from here, offering great winter skiing/snow boarding with extremely reasonable lift prices. The mountain has good learning areas and many challenging runs, bowl, and backside for experts. We are lift/lodging partners with the ski area so you can purchase lift ticket vouchers from us before you head up.
Mountain bikers often use the shuttle services offered by Ashland Mtn Adventures.
Back-country and Nordic skiers will find a great variety of possibilities (in addition to the ridges and bowls behind Mt Ashland) and I'm happy to share these with you, and maps as well. A day trip down to Mt Shasta ski resort is a good plan too.
The alpine trails behind Mt Ashland are snow-free usually until mid-November and the huge wildflower bloom lasts much of the summer. The views out over all the mountain ranges are magnificent!
The space
The homestead is located on the Siskiyou Summit just south of Ashland. Elevation 5000 ft., making temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than Ashland and the valley and a few degrees warmer than Mt Ashland. The 38 acres of forest (unlogged) are the site of the historic old wagon (and early automobile) road, now our driveway, crossing the summit from Oregon to California. Earlier, since time immemorial, the pass was used by the Shasta, Karuk, Yurok, Takelma and many other tribes. It has been our family home since 1982, and we've been caring for this little piece of the puzzle ever since. We are part of the bird flyway and our forest is home to hundreds of birds. One sitting on the deck or by the pond will record 20-30 different species. Animals are primarily deer and fox and squirrels. On the property there are three houses (the Log house, the Forest house, and the Pond house), all far enough away from one another to feel private and secluded.
We live permanently on the property with our dogs, Kellen and Wilfred, in the Pond House. We enjoy meeting people and will be available if you need anything during your stay. The Forest House will also be rented at times, and has a separate driveway, parking area and entrance with forest in between. The Log House has a key pad entrance so you can check in when we're not home. Many guests like to enjoy a fire in the wood stove on cool evenings. All details for getting here, using the WiFi, house rules, and everything else will be available to you upon booking in a detailed itinerary section.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the Log House, the seasonal sauna, the gazebo, the pond, and the entire property.

Other things to note
If you are bringing a dog, there is a dog deposit of $35 per week. Please bring only dogs who are quiet, friendly with other people and dogs and not dominant. We have a limit of one dog, and no cats please (allergies).
Also, please note that the sauna is readily available during sauna season (October-mid May). It is an additional $25 for the sauna. Let us know ahead of time and we will help you get it fired up. You will be the only users for the day you request.
The EV charger is available on request, with a $10 fee per charge (saving you a trip to town).
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private patio. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker, and housekeeping is provided on request.
Don't miss out on recreational opportunities including a water park and a sauna. This vacation home also features barbecue grills and bike parking.
Guests will find features like wireless internet access, onsite parking, and a car charging station.

Dreamy Oasis
I can’t say enough about Mich and her lovely property. The cabin is super cozy and clean. We loved sipping coffee in the atrium in the morning and the wood-fired sauna felt amazing after our jaunts through the snow. The bed is upstairs in the loft. There were plenty of choices for streaming movies and lots of board games to choose from. We can’t wait to come back! If a cabin in the woods with a wood stove, sauna and atrium are your thing, then this is the place to stay.

Tremendously happy to have discovered this jewel of a getaway! A peaceful paradise with a wonderful cabin to comfort us during our stay. There really is nothing better than the sound of pouring rain dancing on the roof top while listening to the snap-crackle-and-pop of the woodstove warming us up while we sip on hot chocolate with marshmellows..ahhh, relaxation at its best. And what a great host we had! Mich greeted us upon our arrival and instantly made us feel truly welcomed. She gave us a quick tour, told us the history of the property, and was always available for any questions we had. Couldn't have asked for more.

Lovely Log Cabin
We were welcomed into the log cabin that the owner built 30 years ago. It's a blend of beautiful carpentry with European and Japanese touches that wrap you in warmth and coziness. The cabin easily accommodated our group of 5 adults with the split bathroom design. It's very clean, with comfortable beds and bedding, different colored towels to easily keep track of your own, porch furnishings that extend the living area to the beautiful outdoors surrounding the cabin. Remote feeling yet a quick drive to Ashland. Great areas with amazing views to walk to on the property and an easy access to the PCT. This is a true gem.

A delightful retreat
This home in the woods on the summit of Mount Siskiyou was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay after busy days exploring the area. The deck overlooks woods, the kitchen is well furnished, and the house is decorated with fascinating artwork and wall hangings, some of it hand made by the owners' family. It is a quick drive into Ashland. The host is on site (their house is not visible from the Log House) and very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again if we need a place near Ashland!

Hidden Gem
The Mt. Ashland log house exceeded our expectations in every way. It was exactly as advertised, but better in person. The location was peaceful and secluded, but still a short drive into town. It was immaculately clean and you could tell the owners put a lot of thought into the guest experience. From the welcome information, to the toiletries, to the local coffee, the log house had everything we needed to have a relaxing vacation. My favorite parts of the house were the back porch, solarium, and the cozy loft bedroom. It was also neat to be a short walk to the Pacific Crest Trail. We look forward to staying in the log house again next time we are by Ashland. Thank you Mich and Nico for sharing your lovely home with us!

Truly beautiful stay!
Mich is a thoughtful host and the log cabin is a truly special place! Everything in it is beautiful, from the art on the walls to the handmade ceramic dishware, not to mention the woodwork of the cabin itself. We enjoyed hiking stretches of the PCT nearby and just relaxing with our pup on the lovely wooded property. Will definitely be back!

Mountain Escape with Close access to Ashland!
We loved staying here for a few days, relishing in the solarium, sitting on the porch enjoying the trees and birds and wildflowers. It was a perfect balance of secluded mountain escape and proximity to great food and theatre in Ashland. Mich is both attentive to needs that come up and respectful of boundaries despite their house being so close by. Would certainly come back!

Great Mountain Home
This was one of the very best places we ever rented. Everything was so well appointed. There were five different ways to make coffee and supplies including coffee, an espresso machine and coffee grinder. The attention to detail was fantastic and all of the furnishings and decorations were of very high quality and frankly expensive. Like living in a real home. We often slept in the sunroom which was like sleeping out in the forest without being cold or uncomfortable, lol. The feeling was like living in the wilderness and yet only 15 minutes or so to Ashland. The owner was kind and attentive to a couple of our requests. Beautiful sunsets close to the home and a short walk to the Pacific Crest Trail. Everything was quiet and peaceful. We did not get a chance to use the sauna but next time. We did burn a small wood fire one evening which was very cozy. We are actually recommending this to our good friends who live in the area for a mountain getaway. This was obviously a well-loved and cared for property. We would definitely stay again.

A piece of heaven
We took a journey down to Ashland just to get a little one on one time before the baby comes and we were spoiled with the secluded Forest log house. It was built in the 80's, you walk in and feel magic pouring out of the most beautiful wood floors and counters. The decor takes you on a journey around the world, and the smell of the wood burning fire place just seals the deal. We took the pup on a lil' hike down to the pond, my man got a sauna steam under the full moon and I got a quiet bath with pure serenity. Can't thank the hosts Michelle and Mitch enough, they were very kind and so thoughtful. Even ran us down extra firewood in the dark! Highly recommend. We just wish we could have stayed longer. ;)
