I was disappointed because the hotel was going through remodeling. I stayed here a couple of years ago and it looked like nothing I remembered. You would think that they would lower the prices because of the remodeling but they didnt. If I am ever coming back, I would call before hand to make sure there is no remodeling. Very inconvenient.

We arrived at the hotel and found that almost half of its amenities were under construction and unusable. The main lobby, which is advertised all over their website was completely unusable. They had guests checking in/out through the convention center entrance because the front and inside of the main lobby had tarps and construction walls put up everywhere. This also made ordering rides and food very difficult because the drivers always had to do a circle or two due to little to no signage. The upper pool, which is also heavily advertised, was also under construction. Not only could we not use the upper pool, but there was constant loud construction noise going on throughout the day. On top of this, all of the staff we encountered were rude. With this hotel being rated so high, we expected at the very minimum for the staff to be friendly. It felt like we were being a burden to the staff and that's not how we should've felt being paying guests at this "luxury" resort. We did call to voice our concerns the first night and they did not offer anything for the inconvenience even though we paid full price when a good amount of amenities were not available. The Diplomat was not our only option for our trip. No where on The Diplomat website, Expedia, or any of their social media accounts does it say that the hotel is under construction. If we would have known that there would be a good part of the hotel under construction and unusable, we would have chosen to stay somewhere else.
