This is a fun place to stay, its retro vibe was great. We enjoyed reminiscing about the type of furniture our room had and how they have been able to keep it in such good condition all these years.

Beautiful older motel. The owners clearly care about making keeping the Sunset Motel accessible for travelers just stopping by for a night. The grounds are lovingly maintained with artwork and plants. The grab & go breakfast was wonderful & hit the spot. Thanks!

Room was very clean along with the carpet. Water could be adjusted to all temps. Very important to us. Great grass area for dog.A very nice bag breakfast to eat in room or on the road.

Perfect vintage Rt 66 motel.
Truely authentic vintage motel. Well kept, very clean, loved the breakfast swag bag, and being greeted by the cat. Owners are so very nice. Knowing I had a cat with me, and the room I was assigned to had a dog next door, the moved me to another room at check in. They obviously run this motel for the guest experience, not just for financial gain.

Awesome Route 66 stay
It’s was way better than expected to the detailed interior that was right on period correct, wonderful staff, the little touches that were very cool in the room (not spoiling the surprise), area was very cool and it was way more awesome than we expected and is a great stop on our Route 66 drive! You’ve gotta stay and then you’ll understand there is so much awesomeness to this location.

We have been to this motel many times. We love the Rt 66 feel of the motel. It’s history and the fact that it has been continuously owned by the same family since 1959. If you want a great stay on Rt 66, stay here. There is also a refurbished Whiting Brothers tire shop next door.

If you love old school nostalgic motels like us, this one on old Route 66 in Moriarty, NM fits the bill. Nicely maintained property with lovely patio area. Cozy room with comfy beds. Definitely plan to return.

Starting day with with a cold shower
My wife ran out of hot water and she didn’t even need to use any cold water to cool it down in the beginning. Naturally I didn’t take a shower.

We loved our overnight stay at the perfectly retro Sunset Motel! Really comfy, A/C worked great, TV channels lovely, bathroom & vanity area. The front desk manager was so sweet, and we got a grab bag of baked goods and tangerines from their local baker in town for the next morning. :)

Our Favorite Place to Stay in the Whole World
The Sunset Motel is our favorite place to stay in the whole world and we have travelled to a lot of phenomenal places. It just never disappoints. I love the goodnight kisses and the rubber ducky. The grounds are artsy. I love the mid-century vibe and the Route 66 component. A lot of love goes into maintaining this special motel.

The room was clean and big enough for two large dogs. The staff was very nice and helpful. Had a very nice patio to sit and enjoy the evening with our dogs.
