Sandcastle Oceanside Resort is old and run down. Rooms need serious overhaul and redone. Ac couldn't keep up, mold stains on lamp shades, mattress cover, furniture was sticky and hotel stinks like must and mold. Will not stay there again. Staff decent but not overly friendly.

It was the worst experience! My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted to relax. On Saturday, August 31st, we arrived at 5:00 pm. When we checked in, they told us they did not have the room we booked, and that they had no more rooms because they were sold out, but that they would give us the room we booked the next day. I asked them why they would not honor the reservation, and they told me that I booked through Expedia and not directly with them. The room they gave us for that night was terrible, room 910. I had to ask for the sheets to be changed. It had mold all over it. The light fixture, ceiling, and floor had mold all over it. The stove was dirty. The smell was terrible. I spoke to the front desk, and they said there was nothing they could do, we could just cancel and go somewhere else (very rude). We couldn't find anywhere to go. Memorial weekend! We had to stay in that room. We went out to eat and came back at 10:00 pm to sleep, but we couldn't stand the smell of the room and had to stay around the hotel until we got tired and went to sleep around 1 in that dirty room. The next day they gave us the room we booked around 3:00 pm. We moved again and tried to get organized. And the day was gone. We couldn't enjoy the weekend or celebrate our anniversary. The weekend was a disaster. I have pictures where you can see how the mold and dirt in the room were everywhere, but it won't let me attach them here. I want my money back!

Check in a nightmare… would not let us see room before check in…checked us in.. went up to see room… not been cleaned… beds not made etc… back to front desk.. gave another room… it was in bad need of an update… been staying there for 20yr… same furniture etc..stove eyes hanging out…dirty tile…fridge quit working… commode ran over. Love the convenient location but will not stay again unless rooms are updated and cleaned up. By the way… it was not cheap!!

Staff was excellent but the property is very dated and dirty! Ceiling leaked in more than one spot, couch in our room looked like it came from the dumpster, stained and ripped chairs and the shower had lots of mold.

I liked the ocean view from the room and the easy access to the beach. I didn't like the shower in the room and the sheets didn't look clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rate of the hotel changed from the price that I was supposed to pay when I arrived. Overall the facility was average.

Bye Sandcastle….Wont be back
We arrived early and needed a parking pass so we could park and enjoy the beach while we waited until 4 to check in. Waited behind what we thought was another customer when checking in, but it turned out to be a male employee just hitting on the receptionist. Neither one of them acknowledged us and they continued interacting while we waited a few minutes. I even went to sit down because it was taking a while. The receptionist did not smile or greet us. Great start. Later around 4, we go to actually check in and there’s a line of 5 or 6 people and I proceed to ask the employee behind the smoothie counter (that’s in the lobby) if I can get a smoothie and she says she is just about to close down. On Labor Day weekend…as soon as guests arrive, you close the lobby smoothie place? Weird. The tiki bar by the pool as I understand is a separate company and the bar tender has by far the best customer service. The hotel employees could learn a thing or two from him. Our room was missing a shower curtain. A roach was crawling in our room that we had to kill and a random loofah was found behind the dresser. There was a bag of raw shrimp in our freezer…it looked nasty. The pool and hot tubs and lazy river are disgusting. This was our second time staying here. We had a great time the first visit, but this visit was awful and we just won’t come back after that.
