Fujiyoshida accommodation options include the Hotel Route-Inn Court Fujiyoshida and Yasuragino Bettei Shikitei. 35 kilometres to the north of Nanbu-cho you'll find Chuo, which is home to the APA Hotel Kofu Minami and Kamenoi Hotel Yamanashi Kofu Minami. Furusato Park and Ishibashihachiman Shrine are some of the most popular attractions to explore when visiting Chuo.

Fujikawaguchiko is located 35 kilometres away from Nanbu-cho and has a population of 23,000. When you're in the area, you'd be mad if you didn't visit Forest Mall, Hachio-ji Shrine and Katsuyama Road Station. Koumi Park and Forest Adventure Mt Fuji are a couple more attractions which are sure to offer up some choice photo ops. Fujikawaguchiko offers places to stay that should suit most tastes and budgets, such as the Ooike Hotel and Fuji Lake Hotel.

Unless you're planning to set up camp at Mt. Fuji - Shizuoka Airport, it's probably a good idea to book some accommodation before you leave. The Hotel Route-Inn Shimada Ekimae is pretty close by, or you could always travel to the centre of town. It's 60 kilometres away.

I think HAOSTAY is very value for money as the rooms are big (as of Japan standards) and it offers a great view of Fuji from the room window and rooftop. The Japanese or sandwich breakfast options were great. It is a 15 min walk from the train station which is manageable. For transport to the train station, they have fixed vehicle trips at 9am, 9.30am and 10am. It is recommended to book them the night beforehand as there are only spaces for approx 7-9pax. All in all, I would definitely come back again if I were to go to Kawaguchiko.
