Ditch your job, book a ticket, get a tan, find love, never return. You don't need to do all those things, but one you should do is secure that ticket to Nerima. One of the many 'hoods of Tokyo, it's a great base for exploring all that this city has to offer. The capital of Japan is home to around 8,300,000 people and one of the best cities to really sink your teeth into the nation's history and culture. To get to Nerima from Haneda Airport, hail a taxi, stash your suitcase in the boot and travel 25 kilometres to the northwest. If you're arriving from the centre, you'll need to travel 15 kilometres northwest.

This city is brimming with sensational things to do, and many of them can be found near Nerima. It's difficult to choose the top sights, but Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and Inokashira Park are two you shouldn't miss. Don't forget to put Nekobukuro and Shinjuku Central Park on your itinerary too. While you're in town, consider visiting other neighbourhoods to appreciate more of what Tokyo offers. Wako and Hoya-shi are great suggestions that are within easy reach.

One of the first recommendations in your guidebook will have to be Tokyo Tower. So what's the delay? This star attraction is located just 2 kilometres from the downtown area.

Feeling a little restless in Nerima? Get out and see Tsukiji Fish Market and Yasukuni Shrine, two terrific attractions in the centre of the city. You can't head back to your hotel without having a look around the Tokyo National Museum and Yoyogi Park as well.

Sometimes an artwork can affect you so much that you just have to find out more about it. See if the staff can inform you about the pieces at the Kichijoji Art Museum, the Chihiro Art Museum, the Nerima Art Museum and the Japan Calligraphy Museum.

From hands-on activities to curiosity‐inducing objects and artefacts, museums have something for visitors of all ages. If you get caught off guard by a rainy day, why not make your way over to the Suginami Animation Museum, the Suginami Science Museum and the National Tax Agency Tax Affairs Museum?

You can't beat the feeling of anticipation when a live show is about to commence. Take your seat and watch the curtains go up at the Kichijoji Theater and the Za-Koenji Public Theatre.

Kids have truckloads of energy. Luckily enough, there are a few places in the local area where they can blow off some steam. Toshimaen Amusement Park and Kamata Park are some well-known options.

An appealing feature of this place is its nearby green spaces. Among the hustle and bustle, there are plenty of places to take a short walk or read a book. Musashino Central Park, Musashiseki Park, Mabashi Park and Makino Memorial Garden & Museum are some good options.
