Great location, pools were clean. Front desk was just...there. Building and rooms need updating. Elevator was "misbehaving"...it wanted try to shut multiple times before it closed...every time. Complimentary "deluxe" breakfast was minimal, went only once. Overall, we would stay again.

Location, location, location
We've stayed at The Islander many times over the years. It's a great place to stay mainly because of the location, but they could put a little more time and money into refurbishing the place. They are quite a bit behind the neighbor next door, Ocean Isle Inn.

Love the beach front access. Outside is very nice. Front staff was very friendly, house keepers, not so sure. The property is very ran down. Could not even get our luggage cart from ground level up, because the ground level elevator would not work most the time. You can take the elevator to the ground, but cannot start from the ground level. The doors to the rooms look dirty from the nicks and cracks in them, also most of the walls. You can also hear everyone in the hall, beside you, below and above you. Had the guy below us knocking on our floor, because he heard us walking around. Should probably take money from the sold out property to put back into the facility.
