Pros and cons but I'd stay here again!
Pros: amazing view, easy walk to the beach, paved walking path along water, comfortable beds, lots of hot water, friendly staff, waterfront restaurant next door, walking distance to town, and reasonable rates. Cons: Badly in need of updates. Carpet old and dingy, table in our room was broken but stayed upright leaning against the wall, has that old musty smell but that cleared up once we opened the sliding doors, the balcony looks as if the wood is going bad, however it seemed safe and sturdy enough, when you sit on the balcony though you can't see the water very well because of the wide boards used for the railing- we actually had a better water view sitting back farther in the room and looking out the doors. Having said that, I also appreciated that it wasn't a big modern high rise - the older quaintness held a certain charm and I loved the peacefulness of the area.

Yes, it’s old but it was fairly clean. However, when checking in, I was asked if we would mind just one set of towels! No, there are two people! The bed was flimsy, bouncy and the smallest queen size ever. The pillow was very thin. Once we finally got a second set of towels, I noticed they were small and thin. They were clean.

Our room was fine for what we purchased, it was a good spot to sleep. The food nearby was somewhat limited and the townsfolk seemed unwelcoming. Lots of weird stares while we tried to eat our mediocre dinner. No staff on site after 7, although there is a number to contact if needed. The location is beautiful, we loved walking around the beach! Definitely recommend if you want a cheap, one night stay on the beach. Would not recommend for longer stays.

Good but dangerous stairs
Overall it was very nice. Balcony room, which was dated, the balcony needed tlc but we looked out at Lake Huron and could use the path for a 2 min walk to the beach Older room. Very small bathroom. Nice shower, small fridge, microwave and coffee pot. I appreciated that. Not set up for ADA requirements if you need that. Bathroom wouldn’t fit a walker. Honestly we would stay there again except for the fact that the middle steps going up were not up to code and caused me to trip.. twice. There is a second tread on the top step. The second time I went down and broke my finger. All on the first day. When I reported it Andrew was disinterested and wouldn’t write everything in, like which hand and finger. I will need surgery. He did reveal that the newer part of the motel built in the 90’s was built very cheaply. The breakfast bar in the morning could only fit a few people. If you’re looking for a good breakfast I would suggest going out. A great walking/biking path. I would have given it a 4.5 if it weren’t for his reaction.

Driftwood Bike Path and Beaches
Staff was friendly and very helpful! We really enjoyed the beautiful view of Lake Huron. Cute and rustic motel right next to a great bike path.

Really like staying here for the 4th. Hotel is fine with AC, a great view of the lake, and friendly staff. Amenities are a little old but fine.
