Historic hotels are fascinating time capsules with lots of interesting pieces and stories. Unfortunately, if the needed renovations are not done (fixing broken vanities, removing dusty seat covers, providing towels that are not rags, making available an outlet for a cpap machine), then all the charm of the property is lost.
I imagine that the ghost stories and the classic Italian restaurant will keep guests coming back. Unfortunately it won’t be us.
It is an older hotel however the staff was wonderful. I talked in passing with a good amount of staff. Everyone was friendly. Staff gave recommendations for restaurant and it was awesome. Although I was busy away from property I enjoyed my stay and will switch where I stay whenever I’m in north end of Ventura County. I’d recommend it price is half of big chain hotels. It’s walking distances to shops and restaurants. If you don’t need a gym or pool then why pay for it. I want a safe, quiet place, and found that here. It was clean & comfortable. And parking is free. Love that part!
Basically it is all the above choices.
A blast from the past. Great Inn to stay at with a lot of history. Nice ambiance, friendly staff and a fantastic bar and restaurant. We stay every year
I appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. We only had a small mirror in the bathroom. We were in Santa Paula for a wedding. Therefore, a bigger mirror was needed.
Hotel was pretty clean for 100 year old building. Management was very responsive to exterior lighting (no blackout curtains) and turned off in consideration. Room was tidy. However my mattress was squishy and squeaky.
Every single staff member was pleasant and helpful. Enzo's is a great on site restaurant with a full bar. The Inn's location is great as you can walk to many restaurants. The downstairs area is open and allows for many people to hang out. This place has great personality.
There were some issues, discussed with staff, overall I enjoy staying at Glen Tavern!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
This property felt creepy, I dont know how else to describe it. The rooms were cool I guess and everything seemed pretty nice, but it had a creepy feel to it. I liked the historical feel of it all, but be warned it could creep out some people.
We needed a quick overnight stay for less than $200. There are no elevators in this and we had to schlep our luggage up three stories. We are seniors. The carpet in the bedroom was horrifying dirty— I kept my shoes on until I climbed into bed. The place is old and rundown. They need to put about $1 million into it and it will be charming as heck!!!! Locals told us that the restaurants fantastic! But we didn’t eat there.
The Glenn Tavern is a cute small hotel. Older so there’s no elevators, But I find it quite cozy. This is my second time staying here and both of my experiences have been amazing. The staff up front are extremely nice and it’s in a good area. All of my Santa Paula visits I will be booking here hands down.
This hotel has been on my bucket list for a while. Not going to lie I was pretty disappointed in the room we got. It felt very cold and detached from the history of the hotel. Our room had white tile that was cracked in several places. Our bed was on wheels so when you sat up against the wall you would roll out. There was a step up to the bathroom so we had to be mindful when using the bathroom in the middle of the night. There was a birthday celebration that took up a majority of all the rooms on the property so it was very noisy. The restaurant on the property was delicious. And the actual lobby of the hotel was lovely and filled with history. But our room left us feeling lacking. There are rumors this hotel is haunted and in my option I didn’t feel any spooky vibes or even experience anything.
