About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Charming Santa Ynez farmhouse

Charming Santa Ynez farmhouse. The farmhouse is situated on 4 acres and shared with dogs, cats, goats, geese, turkeys, tortoise, horses and chickens! We are on the property as well and in our own space. We can have as much or as little interaction as you would like.

The farmhouse is for two adults only, sorry no children.
You have approximately 750sf. with 2 separate sleeping areas to choose from. One is in the bedroom with a king size bed and the other is located in the living room. It is a cubby that has a queen size mattress in it. It is very cozy!
Kitchen amenities include, stove/oven, fridge, sink, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, blender and all the service ware you need! A Samsung 42" flat screen tv with Directv premium channels is provided for your viewing. A full bath with a shower and tub awaits you. There is also a workspace if you need to do some work while here. The place is airy and bright with lots of windows and doors to let in the natural light.
French doors open to a lovely private brick outdoor patio with BBQ, table & chairs and two lounge chairs. The patio/backyard faces a vegetable garden and is very private . During the day we have free roaming animals that you may encounter. We let the hens out about 7 or 8:00 am as they have an automatic door and they go to bed at dusk. The hens can make noise when laying an egg. We let the roosters out of the coop around 8:00am and they free range as well. The coop is out in a field away from the farmhouse by our barn and the roosters have a little sound proofing around where they sleep. But this is the country and you may hear ours and other neighbors roosters crowing or other animals. We also have pygmy goats, small dogs under 20 pounds, tortoise, geese, turkeys and horses along with ourselves on the property. This is a farm with animals that can make noises. There is an and pm feedings, it's a farm if animals are not your thing than we are not for you...
The farmhouse is for the paid guests only that book, no other sleep overs or other guests brought for entertaining etc. Booked/paid guests only. Sorry NO children or pets TWO GUESTS ONLY

We are located 2.5 miles from Los Olivos and downtown Santa Ynez. Santa Barbara is about 30 miles and Lake Cachuma is 13. The Danish town of Solvang is about 4 miles away. We are very close to some great winerys, Roblar, Beckman, & Bridlewood to name a few.

We do have wifi but it is satellite and very slow and not for streaming. It does allow you to do your basic internet searches and check email it is through a satellite dish which is the only option offered. This is nothing we can change as there are no other options offered in our location.

When weather and time permits bath and bed linens are dried on a clothes line.

Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am.

If you need a one night stay only you can check the calendar close to that date and if I do not have a booking I can see if we can work something out for the one night only stay.

Parking is on our property in front of our garage for two cars. If you bring two cars please park one behind the other.

Incredible, Peaceful Getaway
This was a first for us, to stay on a farm. We always go to the coast. What a fabulous change of pace! The farmhouse is charming and very comfortable. It is so much fun feeding the chickens, geese, and turkeys that roam all around freely. And the African tortoise is huge. Kris, the host is wonderful and friendly. Will we stay here again? In a heartbeat. And we will recommend this wonderful home to our friends.

The farmhouse was the perfect place to to stay in the area. The farmhouse had everything we needed. Kris was easy to get a contact if we needed anything. The location was great for wineries or just checking out the area. Having the farm animals wandering around was an added bonus.

Everything I expected...but better!
We could not have been happier with our stay! It was everything the listing described, but the experience added up to so much more than the sum of its parts. The cottage was private, well appointed, squeaky clean (even during rainy weather), and the kitchen was fully equipped. Great shower and very comfortable bed. Kris, our host, went above and beyond to make this stay special. She met us upon arrival and gave us a mini tour. Hard to complain about snuggling with baby goats, meeting the horses and making friends with their dog and a specific goose with a lovably spunky personality. Our cottage had eggs from Kris' chickens in the fridge, a bottle of their homemade wine, homemade butter and jams, all followed by delivery of a loaf of bread fresh from the oven. Kris was so nice, warm, and welcoming. We awoke each morning to roosters letting us know it was time to get moving :) It may not be everyone's thing, but we loved it! The roosters and chickens waited for us and came running over to get fed as soon as we opened the door. Our last night there, Kris took us around their farm and we hung out with all the goats, geese, the gorgeous turkeys, the giant tortoise, and went inside the hen house. This is a working farm. It's dirty and noisy (but I love animal noises), the roads aren't paved and it's pitch black and silent at night. It was the complete antidote to city life and we loved every moment and every animal from start to finish. HIGHLY recommended!

Not to be missed!
We can’t wait to return! Kris greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the property. There were fresh eggs, warm bread with butter and jam and a bottle of wine with a sweet note welcoming us to the farm. We felt like we we’re staying with family, it was absolutely wonderful. The converted horse stable was so cozy, clean and inviting. Kris shared that she was helping to care for a baby goat and offered to let me feed her, something this city girl will never forget. Do not pass up an opportunity to stay here. We will definitely be back! Thank you Kris for everything, we will be seeing you soon ❤️ 🐓

Amazing Farmhouse for Animal Lovers
As animal lovers who spend a lot of weekends feeding birds and waterfowl in our own area, staying here is like a dream come true. Kris really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and appreciated. We were greeted at the gate and after dropping off our stuff, we were given a grand tour of the property and all of the wonderful animals. Kris provided hand-made bread that had just come out off the oven and a bottle of wine from their own vines! We finished both rather quickly as they were so delicious. Each day were woke up early to spend time with the animals and feed the chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. It is quick a pleasure walking outside and having chickens come racing towards you like you are old friends. This is definitely a place we will return to and cannot recommend enough. Thank you for sharing your farmhouse and your animals with us, Kris.

Kris was a five star host and made me feel welcome from the git go. She welcomed me with fresh bread and a bottle of wine and fresh eggs in the refrigerator. Everything was wonderful. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. Be advised if you are not a fan of birds this might not be the location for you, as there are chickens and turkeys and ducks and geese on site. Not a problem for me but felt I should share as an FYI. Again, everything was wonderful you will not be disappointed.

Anniversary getaway
We had an amazing stay at Kris’s farmhouse celebrating our 33rd anniversary! We received the warmest welcome from Kris greeting us on arrival to the most delicious homemade bread, jam and wine! We were also given fresh eggs from her hens for breakfast, and fresh cut roses in our room that smelled heavenly! Kris really put thought into the details. The animals were amazing to interact with and all so friendly, we loved hearing the stories about each of them! Kris also has a beautiful Friesian horse which is my favorite breed so that was an exciting experience. The farmhouse was so comfortable and private with a relaxing atmosphere! I can’t wait to return. Kris and Francisco were amazing hosts and we appreciate all that they do for their guests and their animals!

Amazing
Where else have you stayed that you are greeted by the Host (Kris) with a loaf of warm, fresh baked bread? The house is lovely - big enough for 2 weary folks looking for a respite - away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Our interaction with the myriad anilmals was exhilarating! Geese that peck at your door in the morning for the cracked corn provided, then a huge tortoise (Mr. T) taps on the window, hoping for some zucchini --- not to mention the beautiful turkey (I called them the Boys) who follow you around and let you pet them! That's just the hello. Kris and Francisco have a whole menagerie of roosters, chickens, ducks, goats, horses (both mini and huge) to be around, pet, and feel like it really is life on a farm. Their fresh eggs were wonderful and had hearts on them with the name of the contributing hen! We sat out back on the veranda in the evening and enjoyed visits from various furry friends. All in all, a great way to rest, relax, and make new friends, both human and non. High hopes fulfilled and more. Can't wait to return.

Great stay in the Farmhouse!
I had a lovely stay with my husband. Kris and Francisco are gracious hosts. The farmhouse had everything we needed to stay in, cook, or relax outback. It’s homey to start and even more welcoming with the yummy wine, eggs, bread and jam. We visited Beckman (our fav) and Roblar wineries. Roblar is the only one we found that offers a food menu. We also walked to the Claremont Lavender farm. Lavender is not in season until late June, but they had a little store and the farm is another lovely setting for a picnic. We also found a great hike up Figueroa Mountain Road. The poppies and lupine are definitely in season! Kris and Francisco have created such a safe and loving place for their animals. It was a delight to get a visit in the backyard from the mini horses, chickens and turkeys. And Kris kindly let me hang out with the goats! We would be happy to stay there again.

Wonderful experience for my 100yr. old mother and myself, creating an opportunity to relax and commune with each other and the adorable and entertaining farm animals. Our host was welcoming, providing us with delicious fresh eggs, bread, butter and homemade jam for breakfast, a lovely, cozy cabin equipped with everything we needed, including a nice bottle of wine. I highly recommend this rental as much more than a place to stay, but as a much needed farm experience and get-away for city people to escape from the hustle and bustle.
