Charlie seems to be a very nice person and his two yard dogs were very friendly. The cabin is remote but several cabins nearby. The cabin is well kept but definitely a place for leisure activities or fishing. Actually sleeps two regular beds and a fold out couch. Wery well stocked. We would definitly stay there again!

This One Defines Relaxation
We chose this one because it is on the lake. Actually, it's got water on three sides which you can see from the deck. The boat traffic in the first part of September was practically non-existent. The weather and accommodations were just right for morning coffee, afternoon beverages, and evening grilling. Plenty of room on the dock for wetting a line or enjoying the calm of the morning. The bed slept fine. The shower is tiny but has good water pressure and gets hot. It is an older lake house in all senses of the words, "lake house" which isn't a bad thing at all. It met our expectations. The owner lives in a different dwelling on site and is so very kind. If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax especially as a couple, this is a good one.

Great Getaway. Will Be Back!
4 adults. This was the perfect getaway for us. Mr. Charlie was the perfect host. Fishing was fabulous. Morning coffee on the deck was beautiful. We watched deer swim, saw bald eagles, and listened to the early morning boats. It was perfect for us.

Overall my family had a great time. This place is a great cabin getaway. Its an older style but we felt right at home. The property is right next to the owners home which we did not expect but the owner who is an older gentleman was nice and we had our privacy. This place is very rural down a dirt county road. Not a good swimming spot but we fought the wasps to fish on his older boat dock. Overall the home was nice and cool we had plenty of spots to sleep, fresh shower and bathroom. Trying to give my best honest opinion! Thanks Byrds we had a great time.

The house and property was very nice and kept up nicely and the owner was a very good host and very pleasant to talk to if you're looking to do some fishing you are close to the water and sitting on the deck of the house in the evening was very peaceful and you could listen to all of the animals talking and it was very pet friendly very thankful for the opportunity to be able to stay there

Loved the Byrd’s Nest
The road leading to it is unpaved and the bathroom is small, but we will definitely be back. Charlie is super nice and lives close by if you need anything. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, kayaking, paddle boating, hiking around the property, and making s’mores every night in the fire pit. The house was great for 4 adults and a teenager and had everything we needed.

Lovely spot. Quaint and well stocked.
This is a great little spot. The house is a snapshot into the past, but has everything you could need. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything I needed. I wasnt aware the owner lived so close by, or that he had 2 sweet dogs of his own that roam the property. They were very sweet, unfortunately my dog doesnt play well with others so we were unable to use the lake as much as I had hoped.

If you want to come for fishing, then this is a great stay. The property is beautiful with a great host who stays out of your business, but is very helpful. Older house but it's fine for us because it's affordable. Very clean and plenty of amenities. Thanks Charlie!

Gorgeous Views, Peaceful Getaway
My husband and I traveled to Scranton from Houston and stayed at The Bard’s Nest for a few nights. It is very comfortable and homey, the views are breathtaking and the entire property is like a small oasis. We enjoyed the paddle boat and fishing from the dock. It is a bit of a drive on a partially unpaved road, but we recommend the property highly, and it is totally worth the drive! Charlie was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and his two dogs welcomed ours with open arms. We appreciate your hospitality, Charlie, thank you. Well be back next time!

Nice house on the lake
Charlie met us and gave us a tour of the property upon checking in. It's a beautiful area right on the lake. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck listening to the frogs sing and watch the bald eagles soar by. The shower is a little small but everything else was great. We enjoyed the two dogs who greeted us every time we pulled up to the cabin. Chris a great host and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
