Very good

Very nice old property. Check in time rather late at 5pm instead of the usual 3pm. Friendly service. Young woman even carried our suitcases upstairs which was very welcome for an older couple like us.
Lovely quiet village location. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely food, i was thrilled to find a vegan option. Would definitely return.

Needs more effort
This was a nice country location for us visiting Winchester which was circa 30mins drive away.
initial perception was of a large but friendly inn and were greeted by a young woman who showed us our room.
The room (Lanner Falcon?) was of an adequate size for our overnight visit and was clean. Fresh cold water and tea and coffee facilities were provided. However, the ceiling had a rather large water stain from when the roof must have leaked, the bathroom Lino floor was stained and peeling from many years usage and the window frame was also showing signs of rot.
The bed was adequate but the mattress needs changing in the near future as it is nearing the end of its life.
As most other reviews have stated, the old windows are single glazed due to the age of the building and the (low volume) traffic noise can be rather noticeable given the quiet surroundings late at night or early in the morning.
Continental breakfast was a disappointment with a fruit selection of an apple or pear; cereal being a limited choice of Kellog's selection boxes; no yoghurts on offer and only white sliced toast being available. There was no choices of cheeses or cold meats that we would have expected.
So in summary, this Inn is clean, lower priced than an Hotel, in a style analogous to its age, but in real need of a refurbishment and having emphasis as being run as an accommodation business rather than a bolt on to the main business of running a pub/restaurant.
Very nice old pub, but that does come with creaky floors and a bit of traffic noise. Room a little basic, but spotless and had a really nice evening meal in their restaurant.
The young couple running it were lovely, as was the dog! It was very quiet in the bar/restaurant, but we were only there for an overnight en route to Southampton. The complimentary continental breakfast was a lovely surprise and maybe could be mentioned as a selling point. Would stay again
This stay was only an overnight stop before we left Southampton on a cruise. It was the perfect place given location and ease of finding the cruise terminal. We learned the managment was fairly new and great plans were in motion to hopefully make the 'hotel' a venue to revisit time and again. We will certainly use the George and Falcon again, only hoping the price will stay as reasonable as we paid in May 2022 after some upgrades though think this will be unlikely. Look forward to our next visit, depending on prices!
It's a very large and old English pub. So expect wonky floors, old windows and a few bits that could use some investment.
However, the wonky floored room was full of character, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. It's got the sort of character that can't be built modern and comes from a very old building. We loved it.
Great bar, food was excellent both dinner and breakfast and the staff were really friendly. Nothing beats getting drunk in a country pub and stumbling upstairs to bed.
My partner and I stopped here while hiking the south downs way. The room was clean and spacious and the staff were very accommodating. We had dinner here and the food was really good and the service was excellent. One slight criticism would be that the room was a bit too warm for us and we couldn't open the window. But to be fair we didn't report this and I'm sure it would have been rectified if we had. Pleasant experience overall.
A lovely pub, amazing breakfast and very welcoming. Unable to do dinner due to a shortage of Chef (these things happen!) but recommended another pub nearby
