Not a pet friendly hotel.
The hotel claims to be pet-friendly, but that’s misleading. I learned this the hard way during our stay. My family and I left a disaster area in the wake of Hurricane Helene just to get shower and regain some normalcy. When I checked in, the front desk asked if I had pets. I confirmed that I did, only to be told I couldn’t stay in the room we reserved because it wasn’t pet-friendly. The hotel was fully booked, and we were forced to find another hotel that could accommodate family of six & 2 dogs an hour away after already driving two hours to get to this particular hotel. This experience was incredibly frustrating, and I will not be staying at any Choice Hotels in the future.

Breakfast buffet was scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage depending on the day. Along with cereal, porridge, and a waffle bar. Decent breakfast. Staff were all friendly and easy to talk to. Accomodated a later checkout without issue. Only issue was a huge Palmetto Bug (roach) that ran across our room entryway when we arrived late in the night. Apparently these are native outdoor bugs, but can find their way inside from time to time. We had no other issues with bugs the entire stay, and family staying in a high end Air BnB also had one in their house. So I guess they're relatively common to the area. But they're fast, large, and terrifying if you're not used to them.

I had booked a suite as I had six family members with us. She gave us the room key and we went to the room, walked in and realized it wasn’t a suite, went right back down and told I was suppose to have a suite as I had six in my family. She had to look around to see if she could switch us? Which she did. She ask if the room she originally gave us was rentable? I told her Yes we saw it was t the right kind of room, so their waiting in the hall. We went into the suite and as we were unpacking found food still in the microwave and the blankets for the pull out couch had been used. We just put them aside and my girls got their blankets out of the car. Room was dated and not very clean.
