Short getaway
We didn’t get to stay long but we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. It rained but there was so much to do in the cabin it was great! The river access is so nice. Just a half mile from the cabin in the truck. You take all you need and have it all with you! The inside was so nice and rustic. Had a great big tub/shower and comfy bed!

Charming cabin, gorgeous backdrop, kind people
My husband, our two adult children, and our chocolate lab stayed for four nights. The minute we walked in, we knew it’d be the perfect retreat. It’s very cozy and you can tell how much effort the owners have put into preserving this piece of their family’s heritage. The cabin is clean and the bedding is comfortable. We loved walking to the river every day, birdwatching (owls, pileated woodpeckers, American bluebirds, northern flickers), playing giant jenga on the porch, roasting marshmallows, and playing horseshoes. The owners are so kind and genuine, and went above and beyond to create a memorable experience for our family. There’s plenty to do in the area. We enjoyed Peaceful Bend Winery (also such nice people), Meramac Caverns, Lange General Store, and Meramac Springs Park. We will be back!

Couples Getaway!
Such a relaxing weekend! Four of us (2 couples) stayed the weekend and just relaxed and had a wonderful time. We spent a day down at the river, and the rest of the time we hung out in the cabin or around the fire. What a great way to unplug! Kitchen was well equipped. Owners very responsive! Highly recommend!!

It was a cute little cabin. We enjoyed playing games and skipping rocks. It was so cute! The only downfall was the driveway. We would stay again if we visit our son at college.

Relaxing weekend
We had an amazing weekend despite the rain. The cabin was perfect to just sit and relax. The property afforded us total privacy with only the pleasing sounds of nature. We were visited by a buck on the first morning and watched a couple of fawn prancing near the banks of the Meramac. We even caught a couple different varieties of fish that we released since they were too small. We can’t wait to book this cabin again! Thank you Elaine fir being an awesome host.

Treasure on the farm
A quick trip from the city. We had a memorable time at this quaint cabin. The river was a refreshing treat, just a short walk down the farm's road. So you can bring you kayak and float the Meramac or rent a boat near by. My dogs ran and played until they dropped. Games are provided in a wonderful sunroom. A complimentary bag of ingredients for Smores was a treat. We definitely will be back and suggest friends to book also.

For old times sake
We fell in love with the cabin. It was charming and felt like home right away. My boyfriend and i went fishing at the nearby trout park in the a.m. started raining so we went back to the cabin. Watched netflix til the sun came out. Then enjoyed the secluded gravel bar. Put out chairs in the water, soaking up the sun and watched a pair of eagles and a wood duck. I am thankful to be able to bring my border collie. She did not want to leave when the time came. I planned the 2 night stay for my boyfriends birthday. Its about an hour and half from his farm. A nice, close getaway for a few days. And felt like a step back to simpler times. We just got home and discussed when we may try to book a stay in the cabin for old times sake again.

Rustic Charm and Wonderful!
If you are looking for fancy, modern accommodations, this probably isn’t the place for you. If, however, you want a cozy, secluded place to unwind and forget the world, look no further! The rustic charm is baked right into the name of this lovely cabin- For Old Time’s Sake. My family spent a long weekend at the cabin and really enjoyed ourselves! The hosts were very communicative before our stay, providing detailed directions, suggestions for other things to do locally, etc. My kids loved the s’mores welcome pack. There are many games, puzzles, etc to keep everyone entertained. Not to mention catching all the frogs and lizards, and daily walks to talk to the cows! We also enjoyed painting a couple rocks to add to the collection on the front porch. This place truly is full of “old timey” charm, in all the best ways! The private river access was awesome! The pictures don’t do it enough justice. The gravel bar is nice and large and the views are beautiful! Just keep in mind- float trips are big on weekends. We enjoyed having the river all to ourselves all day Friday and enjoyed the people watching as group floated by on Saturday. :) It is a little too far from the cabin to walk, if you’re packing to stay down there for the day. The drive is a little rough- not graveled, just a path through the fields. But manageable and so nice to not have to leave the property. We definitely recommend staying here and plan to come back again! Thank you!

Absolutely breathtaking
For Father's Day my wife's dad and i love to go on float trips. We figured since i have a 1 year old that a long float wouldn't be good, so we booked this cabin. By far the best vacation i have had in over a decade. The property was stunning and my kids loved seeing and walking by the cows. The dogs came to visit and played with the kids and lounged about. Private beach where we spent the entirety of the day swimming, sitting in the current, catching crayfish and small fish to see. Boats going by and a cold drink in hand. And if all that wasnt enough the cabin had everything I didn't even know we needed. Board games, footballs, washers, bags, multiple burn pits, and a smoker i wanted to steal but didn't have the space for in my truck. All i can say is...if you want a relaxing vacation, this stay is all you will need. Just bring clothes and food, they got you covered for everything else. Thank you and we will be back soon!!!

Old homestead
Decent place but no frills and lacks some basic amenities. Old fridge that doesn’t keep stuff as cold as it should. Mice in cabin that ate some of our food in a box on the floor. No foil, plastic wrap, food bags, and charcoal grill needs about 10 lbs of charcoal since its huge and old. Lacks glassware and the stuff provided was old, dirty and we washed everything before using. 4 beds crammed into one bedroom. The setting was nice and private and quiet but this place needs a few upgrades that should be standard. Nice people who own it but spend a few bucks please.

Amazing property that is appropriately named! The cabin is clean and stocked with everything you could need for an old-fashioned relaxing getaway (and wifi if you happen to have a teenager who HAS to connect with his friends 😉). Shower was hot, kitchen was stocked, beds were comfortable! Owner is super friendly & responsive. Book it. You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing!
This property was exactly what we were looking for. It is peaceful, serene, beautiful. Loved taking the walk daily down the mowed road through the field down to the river with our pups! We also drove down to the river too.The cabin has an old world charm and the essentials you need like pots and pans for cooking as well as some small appliances, fridge and oven. Plates, glasses and silverware too. The cabin also had air conditioning and heat. They had a TV and wifi which we hardly used. There was a great sitting area outside the cabin which they provided the wood and brought more when we needed it. We had a campfire every night we were there. We had a pretty low profile car with all wheel drive and were able to navigate the rock road to get to the cabin with no issue. This was one of our best vacations ever! Thank you Elaine and Mike for sharing your place and for your wonderful hospitality!

We really enjoyed our fall trip there. The cabin was one of the best parts of the trip. We went to see the cave and hike but the cabin was truly a lovely experience by itself. The hosts were very accommodating when we needed wood or Wi-Fi. (My phone was on the brink).

Perfect Cabin Getaway
The property was just as listed. Great location, great directions, and the perfect peaceful weekend in the country. We enjoyed the firepit/grill area and sitting on the front porch watching the cows and wildlife. We loved sitting by the river and the path to access the river was easy to navigate. The cabin is close to many activities, we loved the area. The host was timely in responses and we would highly recommend this cabin to all who want to escape to the country.

This is my 4th stay here, absolutely love it! I always sleep great here, love waking up to the birds and cattle! Everyone I bring here with me asks when we can come back to THE cabin. Elaine is very helpful and responds quickly. Feel that this is my home away from home. About 15 min from one of the best trout parks in Missouri. Thank you Elaine and Family😘😘😘
