Live by the adage, 'More holidays less work'? Then spirit yourself away to Swiss Alps. While staying the centre isn't easy, there is accommodation close by. Take your pick of 6 digs within 10 kilometres of all the action on lastminute.com.au. Time to get your vacay face on.

If you're hoping to crash close to the centre, The Chedi Andermatt and Badus are your best options.

"Yaaas"! Cheap and cheerful accommodation means more dosh for the fun stuff, and the Swiss Alps area has a good range to choose from. Hotel Steffani and Hotel Waldrand are a couple of booked options. Some other cheap and cheerful hotels include Residence Brunner and Hotel Dom.

You might also like to check out the Hotel Waldegg or the Ski Lodge Engelberg. The Hotel Waldegg is 35 kilometres away from the centre of Swiss Alps, and the Ski Lodge Engelberg is 35 kilometres away. If those choices don't suit, you might prefer to go with the Hotel Cathrin or the Berghotel Trübsee.

Looking for more to do? Consider spending some time visiting the Nufenen Pass and the Source du Rhone Golf Course. You'll find them in Obergesteln, 25 kilometres to the west of Swiss Alps. Muralto has places to stay that should suit most tastes and budgets, such as the H+ La Palma Hotel & Spa Locarno (ehem. Ramada) and Hotel Garni Montaldi.

The rooms were comfy (though without individually controlled heating they can get a tad stuffy…. You can open the window by an interesting mechanism that I had to confirm with the staff), and the bathrooms were very nice and spacious for a European ski lodge. Free breakfast was great. One decisive feature that made me choose this hotel was its partially outdoor heated pool. Hot tub après ski is one of my big likes, and their pool, although not heated to jacuzzi temperatures, is still plenty warm for enjoying an outdoor soak in snowy weather. Big sauna and steam room also in the spa. The whole spa closes early, so you can’t really use it for after dinner relaxation, but can treat yourself to a nice après ski indulgence after a day on the slopes.
