Really good stay at the lakeside. Pool and spa facilities are excellent and dinner in the main restaurant was brilliant. very talented Chef. The cooked breakfast served was consistently great each day. Convenient locations with lovely walks of High Dam and gorgeous view from our room. We stayed for 4 nights. Only thing that could be improved is that the pool/ spa facilities should be open longer as they are closed at 7pm so there is not much to do in the dark evenings. Some of the staff there seemed quite inexperienced and overwhelmed at times.

Lovely property setting with beautiful lake views but the property itself is in need of an upgrade and revamp. Staff were welcoming and helpful , however It was obvious that staffing at times was limited and therefore the service in some areas not as efficient as it could be. Good food and comfortable room.

we booked this hotel for a wedding anniversary as we have returned for many years. We tried to book the restaurant on arrival and were told it was full. The breakfast service was appalling slow with limited choice. When we came to check out we were told they no longer accept American Express our choice of payment at the hotel and can only be used on line. Sadly after 30 years we wont be returning.

Didn’t like the fact that dogs are allowed to stay in a 4* hotel especially when they’re wet the smell was awful. If I had known this I would not have booked it. Also not happy that the hotel tried to charge me again for evening dinner when I had already paid ! The staff could be a bit more cheery.

Lovely quiet stay, the conservatory is really the selling point of the hotel so I would advise them to look after it, we noticed a couple of leaks. Other than that the breakfast was lovely, its a great base for exploring windermere away from Bowness etc. Lovely plants inside and gardens, I did think the sign at the end of the pier was a bit of an eyesore, would look better without that. Great value for money, we only had a cosy room but it was adequate enough - better toiletries would be appreciated and I believe these rooms need new carpets and furnishings. A child free pool time would be beneficial as it was quite loud and busy when we went to the spa. It would be nice if the lanterns and firepit were lit at all times, as in the pictures.

Didn't realise at time of booking, this hotel was next to the ferry/boat terminal. This meant we would walk a short distance from the hotel and board the ferry/boat to Ambleside and Bowness. Also the hotel is next to the Aquarium and steam train attraction. We also found the spa (pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms) were not being used by other guests from 2pm to 4pm, which meant we had all this to ourselves. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Hotel staff very good and professional (especially George). It was that enjoyable, we stayed an additional night. Top hotel for sure.

Lovely hotel, room walls very thin and some guests not thinking about others but that’s not the hotels fault. Some staff lot more friendlier than others, not sure if this was down to those being new and still training. Would stay here again.

Room was very uncomfortable during the night had to have window open and fan on, very hot. No Guinness in the bar Running water in the bathroom was extremely noises for us and neighbours Venue and view was spectacular friendly staff and lovely food. Enjoyed the pool.

Lovely hotel
Overall a really nice hotel in a beautiful location and worth its 4 star status. Our room was comfortable but could benefit from a little modernisation. No power/usb sockets near the bed and the floor sloped slightly (although the hotel itself is an old building so maybe to be expected)! Breakfast was excellent with good choices and staff very attentive and helpful. We didn’t eat in either restaurant in the evenings so can not comment on this. Pool and spa area was lovely. Robes and slippers in the rooms was a great added touch. We would return.
