We called several days ahead to schedule early check in and we’re told that wouldn’t be a problem. The day of check in we called to confirm early check in and we’re told that wasn’t possible. It was off season in November so it’s unlikely they were fully booked. Would appreciate more transparency in the future

We booked on our way home from North Carolina. I couldnt have asked for a more beautiful location to visit. The proximity to the ocean was what urged me to book this hotel, however the view in person was more incredible. The staff was so kind, the room so clean and comfortable. It was perfect for our anniversary weekend. Even though it was "out of season", there was still enough to do and places to eat close by. The balcony view was everything I needed. I sat outside for hours just taking it all in.

Interior customer service last night was rough. There was a huge water bug on the patio so I couldn’t enjoy the space . The parking attendants / valet team are amazing all the way around . The ladies in the front need customer service training from the folks outside. I wanted to extend my stay but I got no help from the staff . Shame

Disservice to 3rd party reservations
I relayed a message that I would check in late AND have a room close to my sister who checked in early with Gabe at the front desk. Upon my arrival, Latoya quoted policy to me. My reservation had been canceled and there was no hold for the room near my friend. There was an $80 difference in price if I went through the hotel so I opted to reuse Hotels.com. The following day I discussed the reimbursement with Julia. She assured me that Doubletree did not charge for initial reservation and 3rd party should reimburse me. Upon checkout, I notice that the hold for incidentals remains on my card in addition to both reservation charges. Amberley apologies for Latoya and Gabe, but ssures me that Julia is thorough and matter would be resolved. As of this review (48 hours after checkout), it has not.

The stay was okay. No free parking for customers. You’ll have to park across the street in a parking ramp, and it’s $10/day. No breakfast included. Staff was okay, not best. The room was not very well sound proofed. We could still hear the room next door. Our room had a big cockroach in the bathroom. Lotion, bath gel, and shampoo were out. You’ll have to call to get room service. No microwave. It’s convenient to walk to the beach and surrounding stores.

There is no central A/C which means the individual room A/C unit wakes you up every 30 minutes when it goes off and when it turns on again. I got no sleep the one night I stayed there.

Not the Double Tree standard that we are used too
Parking fee was not disclosed at time of booking. The parking garage has no elevator, so if you have to park on the top floor and have bad knees, it is not a good time. The hotel and room were clean, but basic maintenance is not being done to keep up with usage. Some examples; grouting/caulking the shower area, rusty hinges on bathroom door, chipped paint, broken drywall edge over door to the balcony. The WiFi was nonexistent and no code was provided at check in. Before showering the second morning we had to seek someone out to get towels, which would have been a non-issue if more time was taken at check in to explain housekeeping would not be freshening up our room, even with a 3 night stay. Young lady at checkout said they would refund our parking fee, but I have yet to receive the email receipt to verify this happened.
