Incredible setting; modern and very clean rooms. Beds are v comfortable and the area is silent; great sleep! Highly recommend including breakfast with your booking - it’s varied and has everything from freshly baked bread to hot cooked items to cold cuts, fruits, cheese, and pastries. Excellent coffee. Property does not provide VIP benefits - no room upgrade or welcome drinks as indicated. We had a beer and house wine and were charged for them. Disappointing but overall a really good stay and value.

The peaceful surroundings and wide-open skies give it a unique charm, especially at night. The room I stayed in was spacious, well-appointed, and incredibly comfortable. The private hot tub outside was the highlight — soaking in the warmth under the stars was an unforgettable experience, especially when the Northern Lights made an appearance. The design of the rooms combines modern comfort with Icelandic charm, and everything was spotless and well-maintained. Breakfast was exceptional — a generous spread of fresh pastries, local cheeses, fruits, and hot items that changed daily. The on-site restaurant also served one of the best dinners I had in Iceland, with local specialties like Arctic char and lamb, all beautifully presented. Service was courteous and warm, and the staff made every effort to ensure guests were comfortable and well taken care of. It felt both luxurious and personal, which is a rare combination. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic, and upscale stay in South Iceland — especially if you want to experience the Northern Lights in comfort — I highly recommend Hotel Grímsborgir. I would gladly stay here again.

Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was fantastic — generous portions, quality ingredients, and a great mix of local and continental options. The staff at the front desk is amazing. Very attentive and did not have to repeat asking for request. They even gave us an option to opt in for a call in case aurora shows up.

Wonderful stay. They also offer a room call in the event of Northern lights spotted from the hotel.
