Holidays in Kew

We can all agree that travel is life. So grab your suitcase, kiss your pet guinea pig goodbye and get going to Kew! A London neighbourhood, it's a fantastic base for exploring this buzzing city's sights. The capital of England is home to some 7,600,000 people and the perfect place to experience the nation's culture and history. Once you've hopped off the plane at Heathrow Airport and plucked your suitcase from the carousel, Kew will be a commute of 11 kilometres to the east. From the centre of the city, it's 12 kilometres to the west.

This city has no shortage of awesome things to do, and you'll find many of them near Kew. It's no simple task to pick the best attractions, but Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace are two you really shouldn't miss. You should also be sure to stop by Kensington Gardens and the Saatchi Gallery. While you're in town, consider visiting a few other neighbourhoods to taste more of what London offers. Brentford and Richmond are great suggestions that are close by.

The Big Ben is one of those things that you need to see with your own eyes. Just 0.8 kilometres from the downtown area, there's no excuse to miss it.

There are tons of reasons why so many visitors throng to the city centre. The Coca-Cola London Eye and Westminster Abbey are two of the best of them. Alternatively, have a wander around Piccadilly Circus and the Tate Modern.

Broaden your knowledge of the region at the Orleans House Gallery, the Marianne North Gallery and the Roman Black Gallery. These cultural attractions are not to be missed!

Gaze into the glass cabinets and learn all about the artefacts on display as you meander through the sprawling collections of White Lodge Museum, the London Museum of Water and Steam, the Musical Museum and the London Transport Museum Depot.

What nicer way to finish a day's activities than with a bite to eat and a live performance? Check the programme guides at the Hammersmith Apollo, Shepherd's Bush Empire, the Paul Robeson Theatre and the Mary Wallace Theatre.

Can you distinguish your eagle from your condor and your driver from your putter? Whether you're gifted on the green or a total novice, golf is a game for everyone! You can play a round or two here at the Brent Valley Golf Course, the Richmond Park Golf Course, the Royal Wimbledon Golf Club and Putt in the Park.

Get a bit of exercise at a nearby reserve, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew Gardens), Lammas Park and London Wetland Centre. Bring your camera to snap photos of the local wildlife.

If the vigour of the city is wearing you thin, recharge your batteries with a visit to one of the nearby parks. Hurlingham Park, Wandsworth Park, Richmond Park and Boston Manor Park are great places to take some time out.

If you have a thirst for aquatic adventures, go and hang out by the shimmering water at Minorca Sailing and Back of Beyond Adventures.

Quite often, the best way to get to know a new place is by strolling around the shops. Make sure you drop in at Westfield London Shopping Centre, Broadway Shopping Centre, Ealing Broadway Shopping Center and Shepherd’s Bush Market.

Kew Palace, the University of West London, Ealing Studios and Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery have so many stories to tell. History nerd or not, you'll be sure to learn something at these time-weathered sites.

Whatever your beliefs, it's worth visiting St Peter’s Church, St Mary's Parish Church and St Mary's Church.

From its electrifying live games to backstage tours that let you walk in the footsteps of well-known athletes, Griffin Park Stadium is a must-visit for sports fiends. Home of the Brentford F.C, this stadium can be easily reached from Kew.
