Don’t read the reservations correctly

Upon arrival I was given a room, went up to my room to find 2 twin beds, I went back to reception told them there should be 3 beds that’s what I booked, I was given another room and told to wait approx 10 mins before we could go to it, We waited 10mins and I was given another room. So in the space of 20 mins I had been given 3 rooms.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in terms of cleanliness. I booked it online from the photos and a three star rating. The photos make this hotel seem great but the reality and the photos are very different. This is a two star hotel at best. The room smelled like mold/mildew even though we left the windows open and had a fan going the whole time. There were toenail clippings on the carpet from a previous guest! I got no sleep whatsoever due to the doors to the other rooms constantly being slammed by other guests around us. I could hear full conversations from rooms sharing walls and even the maid ignored the do not disturb sign and just walked in one morning. We ended up only staying two out of the five nights I had booked and stayed somewhere nicer the rest of the trip. So much money lost on a place that is not as advertised. I didn’t even try to get a refund because I just wanted to get out of there. I dropped over $1,000 to stay here…I’m so very disappointed.

Good location and value for money

Excellent value for money. Modern hotel near Russell Sq tube station. Bathroom was nice with great shower. Bedroom was not large but for staying a few nights was absolutely fine. The bar area was very comfortable and spacious. Will definitely stay again.

Nice hotel

Rooms were clean and tidy. Check in was nice and easy although didn’t realise i needed proof of ID to check in, luckily had my driving license on me. The hotel reception is nice and air conned, the corridors leading to the rooms are SO warm! We got to our room (5th floor) and windows were thankfully open but was still very warm in the room. We stayed over on one of the hottest days of the year, fans were also kept in the wardrobe so had to plug that straight in. Rooms lack plug sockets (we only had 1 double socket in the room) but do have USB and USB-C plugs both sides of the bed. We only booked hotel for bed only, so can’t comment on the food/restaurants. Plenty of places to eat locally though. 15/20 minutes walk to a few attractions. Bus stops are located close by too so easy to get further a field if looking to explore and not in your own vehicle.

I love this hotel. It has a perfect location, in Bloomsbury, near the British Museum and a block from the subway/ tube (on the Piccadilly line, which goes to Heathrow airport). The staff is friendly and the rooms are pretty (though, as in many London hotels, there’s no air conditioning). If you don’t feel like paying for breakfast, there’s a Pret on the corner. Plus apparently the Beatles liked to stay here; you can’t get better than that.

This property was very nice and conveniently close to the underground subway and many bus lines. The staff was very friendly and quick to answer all requests. We are very glad that we chose this hotel to stay at for our long vacation.

Room was clean and tidy if smaller than led to believe from the pictures, the queen size bed would be sold as a single in most new hotels now, no air conditioning in hot London summer meant a very bad night's sleep, small fan did little to help, Housekeeping letting themselves in at 6am before quickly leaving was unwelcome to say the least. Overall acceptable but will not be coming back.

Rooms aren’t air conditioned. Gets quite hot. Fire alarm went off in the morning which wasn’t fun. Hotel was evacuated. Close to bus and tube (Russell Square station).

Noises, stuffy and rip off bar price

Hotel was nice but our room was at the rear of the hotel, no air conditioning so had to have the windows out as it was very warm and stuffy. The hotel’s extractor was on the whole night and was extremely noisy causing a lack of sleep due to noise and heat, be aware the drinks in the bar are extremely expensive and a surcharge is added without telling you, these were the most expensive 2 drinks in the whole London visit at nearly £18 for a single rum and coke and a pint of beer.

I failed to notice the hotel rooms are not air conditioned. This is completely my fault. Unfortunately we didn’t notice this until checking in and the hotel let us cancel and only charged us one night stay. My frustration is with two points around this issue (1) any hotel in a major city in 2025 that does not feature air conditioned rooms should include a banner or reminder in the booking sequence to confirm with customers, and (2) during the check in process on a very hot day after flying in from New York the guest services agent asked if we needed anything to make our stay enjoyable and (as she worked on our check in), and my answer was as long as the AC has the room ice cold and its quiet we’ll be fine as we didnt sleep on a red-eye flight and were hot and tired…. She kind of had a panicked look and the girl she was training couldn’t hold back an uncomfortable chuckle. I didn’t think anything of it until I walked into the room… No AC, open window facing out to the neighboring buildings construction site. Again. Completely on me for selecting a place that does not include AC. But there’s got to be a better way.

I had a course at the 'de vere grande', a 10 minute walk from the president. The location is good. Lots of restaurants in the area. The room has no air conditioning and no refrigerator, and it was a very hot week. There is a fan available in the room which made it bearable. Part of the problem was the traffic outside that caused a lot of racket, so the windows had to be closed in order to sleep. The room was clean and cleaned daily, the bed was a bit small but good.
